    It's Fusion Friday!

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:14 PM PST

CashFusion makes Bitcoin Cash a privacy coin. Over 2.5 Million BCH has already been made more private using CashFusion!

Make sure to spin up Electron Cash 4.2.3 today and get that liquidity flowing =) The more people using CashFusion at once, the more Fusions happen, and the larger your "anonymity set".

New to CashFusion? No problem, getting set up is pretty easy =)

First, download the Electron Cash desktop wallet. It's got CashFusion built in.

Set up your wallet (and be sure to write down your recovery phrase on a physical piece of paper), then activate CashFusion by clicking the icon in the lower right: Hundreds of thousands of BCH have already been Fused. https://i.imgur.com/DXEPLtf.png

Once it's activated, your wallet will start "fusing" the Bitcoin Cash it contains. Fusions happen over time as their own, separate transactions, and only cost you the network transactions fees (less than a penny). Each fusion transaction will include some of your coins*, so it will take multiple fusion transactions before all the coins in your wallet will be fused. (In the View menu, toggle the "coins tab" to see all of the coins in your wallet. In the "Label" field, fused coins will show CashFusion info.)

Currently, Electron Cash keeps fusing your coins indefinitely. The plan is to eventually allow you to stop fusing automatically after some number of fusions per coin but, until then, there's no downside to leaving it to fuse continuously besides paying the transaction fees. (Every fusion gives you that much more privacy, while also providing "liquidity" for other fusers.)

Electron Cash does not yet prevent you from spending un-fused coins, nor does it prefer fused coins when spending, so it's probably best to leave it fusing and keep your whole wallet fused, and/or pick your coins manually from the Coins tab. If you want that coin-management taken care of for your (and/or you're not comfortable picking coins to spend from the Coins tab), you can always switch back to CashShuffle for now in the Optional Features window, accessible from the Tools menu.

Here's the CashFusion Telegram group where you are welcome to ask questions. (Just remember to be courteous!)

    Happy Fusing!! <3

*"Coins" are kind of a confusing concept when it comes to Bitcoin, but you can think of them just like discrete "bills" (or... "coins") in your wallet, but instead of coming in only certain sizes like $1, $5, $10, $20, etc, they can be any amount sent to you in a previous transaction, like 0.618 BCH, 0.000001 BCH, or 123.45679 BCH. (They can also be combined and split up. That happens in most transactions!)

How to see if I have any BSV from the BCH split

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:07 PM PST

Hi there, I'm a total newbie here.

I bought some BCH in June 2018 (probably at the top of the market!) and have been catching up on old news re the fork and BSV creation. I've been holding it in a paper wallet and am looking for some guidance as to what I need to do to see if I might have any BSV.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Slovenia is an exceptional example of where Europe could be right now regarding crypto adoption if their governments would just embrace crypto.

Hello 2021, adoption seems to be on the rise again worldwide finally. Australia, Venezuela, Slovenia have been the adoption winners of 2020.

Wait, Slovenia? That´s in Europe, the absolute wasteland of Crypto adoption. Over 1000 locations accept crypto in Slovenia, that is insane.

Slovenia is what Europe could look like if our governments would simply write the right laws.

Check out the situation in Slovenia on map.bitcoin.com yourself. If there is one european country to pick for crypto vacations this year, there you go.

Man, I wish the rest of Europe would look like that.

Edit: Since the question came up various times, here are two articles from 2020 that intent to explain why certain countries, including Slovenia, have seen an unusual increase in adoption. Here and Here

    BCH Merchant Adoptions

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:33 AM PST

    Hey all,
As I continue to become a BCH ambassador, I often come to a discussion with merchants which I approach and inform them about using Bitcoin Cash as a payment system since the fees are so low that it's nothing compared to common credit card solutions (e.g, Visa/MasterCard). The main issues I often hear from merchants are as follows:

    1. How do I move the money to my business' bank account?
    2. How to handle Tax and will a bank allow transactions from cryptocurrencies? (In my country, digital-currency are labeled as value asset, so like stocks, gold...etc)

    On Question 1:
Most businesses are not accustomed to living off solely on bitcoin cash, this is because no one uses bitcoin cash, to begin with, so their only way to "cash-out" is using a regulated local exchange, which in the end adds another layer of complexity to the common people who just wish to remove the 3-4% fees by the credit card companies.

Not only that, due to arbitrage, the local exchange can decide on a different value than the average (say, the average spot between bitstamp, coinbase, binance) and that conversion alone can reach the 3-4% they were trying to avoid in the first place. Unless everyone is using bitcoin cash, people might not be able to "trade" between goods and services, which is what economics is based upon eventually.

I was wondering what Roger Ver /u/MemoryDealers can say about such a situation, as I am sure he has faced the same issue with every merchant he has met and talked to. Not only that, the price of cryptocurrencies is susceptible to higher change in velocity compared to stable coins, so that means the merchants will convert their accepted BCH into USDT? or suffer the lows and highs as the world keeps on trading.

This is a very hard topic to answer and I would like to know if someone can propose a middle ground solution for how merchants suppose or should operate in that manner when switching between local currency to BCH.

    On Question 2:
Since in my country, digital-currencies are not defined as currencies, when it comes to taxation, the merchants will have to suffer different taxation. The government has decided that any digital currencies (aka, crypto-currencies) are considered a store of value assets, and therefore they have different taxation steps. not only that, you are in need to inform of every currency-to-currency swap/sell/buy method in order to fully validate and calculate taxation (profits or losses). I am sure that there are special lawyers in the field that might help merchants in that area, but the main issue is also that the banks themselves do not accept or at least have every right (whatever it may be) to dismiss crypto-related transactions.

So yeah,I will hope people might be able to aid me in helping new merchants understand the possibilities when moving to bitcoin cash.

    Thank you!

With governments cracking down on privacy coins its only a matter of time before ...

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 01:15 AM PST

... governments require to know the addresses used in your LN channel, requiring one side of the channel to be a licensed financial institution. High on chain fees of over 100 usd will be an incentive for people to only use the government approved channels.
