    Good times to invest?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 12:06 PM PST

Hey guys, first-time poster. I'm a student in my twenties with somewhat limited financials. Looking to purchase 1 coin and wondering if now is the time to buy? Any advice would be appreciated, this seems to be a gold mine and don't want to miss out on a chance to help with my student loans!

Is any hardware needed for POS? What's next for ETH rigs... Surely the mining community and its hardware is still needed, or is it?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 11:20 AM PST

I've been happily mining ETH/ETC for quite some time. I shifted when the DAG got too big for my 4g cards of course. My 8g boxes are running fine.

But.. do we all just go pound salt one day... brushed off like old horses or put 6ft down from a broken leg?

I'm curious about EXACTLY how POS works with regard to hardware...

Seems to me that hardware is still needed in some capacity to process transactions on the chain.

This has always confused me when people talk about the end of POW...

    • Other than pointing my rigs at alt Coins surely there's a way to convert my systems to be part of the proof of stake Network?

    • Other than suggesting that I mine some other coin, can anyone clarify how GPU rigs can be repurposed (software or hardware) to still be used?

    • in theory if EVERY coin has been mined does that end the hardware wing of blockchain and decentralized finance?

    • if every coin is minted... and all of them switch over to POS, how is that decentralized Finance?

    • does the whole world over of mining hardware end... and then we end up with a small number of ASIC devices controlling everything... no?

    • what was the point of having us get all this Hardware together and mine these coins to "build a global decentralized Finance Network" IF the industry just pulls the rug out from underneath us via consolidation?
