- Quick question on ETH
- Ethereum may not be money, but Ether is. Ether is the monetary base of Ethereum's digital economy. It's main purpose is to finance the network's operation and provide a native monetized medium to interact with an ever growing variety of tokenized assets.
Is storing crypto on exchanges really that bad? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 01:08 PM PST So I don't have a hardware wallet and kind of don't want one. I travel a ton and worry about loss or even theft when I'm gone. I use two exchanges. Binance and Coinbase. Binance for alt coins I don't plan to hold an insanely long time, and Coinbase for BTC/ETH. I've considered using a hot wallet but this leaves me to difficulties selling quickly if I want to. I've ready Coinbase keeps 98 percent of crypto on cold storage, and Binance around the same. Obviously someone could get my password, but it at least alleviates responsibility of holding it on my phone. Can anyone legitimately talk me out of it outside of "not your keys?" I'm doing long term investing and I'm not looking to see it as just having currency, but as a means of building worth in USD. I realize for some that's the opposite reason to hold this stuff but it's truthful. [link] [comments]
Will Ethereum outlast the competition? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 11:06 AM PST Hey everyone, fairly new to the cryptocurrency scene, so would appreciate some guidance. It would appear that Ethereum has several advantages over Bitcoin, making it especially attractive to big business and investors alike. That much is clear. However, Bitcoin is still leading the race, and by a fairly huge margin (if one could even call it that). Obviously, not one can predict what the future holds, but given Ethereum's utility, can't one be assured that it will eventually catch up? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:36 PM PST I have a Ledger Nano S and I was looking for an Ethereum adress with a good ending so I scrolled after the page 10 thousand of my addresses util I found the one. So I just sent about 1 ETH to that address and I'm worried because I just can't find it on Ledger Live, MyCrypto or MyEthereumWallet. What should I do to recover my funds? [link] [comments]
Cobo vault vs SafePal. Any thoughts? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 07:15 PM PST Following up my last post, anyone ever use either of these? I don't really own a pc as I do everything on my phone (iOS) and these seem the best for that. Any thoughts? Also, it was discussed using a safe deposit box. I'm wondering, do you think it'd be smarter to store the wallet or the metal seed there? How much do I need to access a hardware wallet if it's to hodl BTC and eth? [link] [comments]
Archival node from a certain block. Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:08 PM PST Hello Is it possible to activate archival mode from a certain block or only for certain addresses? I need to have history only since recent block and storing 4TB can gets expensive. Thank you [link] [comments]
Question about futures trading Posted: 25 Dec 2020 12:01 PM PST Hey everyone! Newb here. I'm looking to buy and hold ETH but was wondering how much the start of future trading is expected to affect the price. Also, do we generally think a January blip is a probability? [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Dec 2020 12:50 PM PST Ether is used as a unit of account and medium of exchange to pay for every activity in Ethereum. It is also used in the same way for venture capital related to ICOs, and Ether is also used as collateral in the DEFI space. It is an immature form of money, just like Bitcoin is an immature form of gold. Some people prefer to say that Ether is just an utility token. However, an utility token is just a narrowly scoped form of money. Ether's scope is growing and by next year users will be able to pay millions of merchants with Ether through Paypal.
