"Bitcoin is all about the other 6 1/2. The people who are currently cut off from international banking." What do you think happens when you suddenly are able to turn a simple text-messaging phone in the middle of a rural area in Nigeria, connected to a solar panel, into a bank terminal? Into a Western Union remittance terminal? Into an international loan-origination system? A stock market? An IPO engine? At first, nothing, but give it a few years." -Andreas Antonopoulos 2014

Rereading The Internet of Money and this quote struck me. Like most of us probably, this is one of the main reasons why I became interested in Bitcoin, but sadly this would now be impossible with BTC (even if Andreas hasn't realized or admitted it yet) but thankfully we all now have BitcoinCash BCH and the progress can continue, so here's to a happy and prosperous new year, cheers!

“Altcoin” is a misleading term. People don’t call silver and platinum “altmetals”. Traders don’t call $MSFT an “altstock”. Europeans don’t call Euro an “altcurrency”.

$10,000 bounty payable in Bitcoin Cash for high-perf C++ developer for open-source Fulcrum SLP token modification (mainnet.cash funds)

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 12:19 AM PST

So, we have a problem in mainnet. We wanted to implement SLP tokens and SLP token awareness to avoid burning tokens and to actually send SLP tokens (quick overview of SLP tokens).

Here's the problem. The current state-of-the art solutions are way too brittle and/or slow.

I'm opening a $10,000 in BCH bounty for anyone who extends Fulcrum with high-performance method similar to blockchain.address.listunspent, but something like slp.address.listunspent, which will return decoded and VERIFIED SLP balances (and a few similar methods, like subscribe, get_balance - this part should not be too hard).

The implementation must pass all SLP tokens tests (yes, there's a reference somewhere, I don't have it handy)

The code will have to be approved by either /u/nilacthegrim (Fulcrum creator) or /u/blockparty_sh (creator of gs++) (the bounty is open for you guys too)

Please provide proof that you are capable of doing it first (that you understand how to write high-perf C++ code), you must know what RocksDB, key-value storage is, mutexes, semaphores are...

I'm open for hourly rate too if you prove to be capable.

    PM me

Dear BCH miners, please consider orphaning Hathor empty blocks

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:15 AM PST

They are really creating a problem (here's ours: https://i.imgur.com/0xdvaPX.png https://i.imgur.com/tvU0jL9.png) for Bitcoin Cash network by mining empty blocks.. and they have no incentive to stop unless the network starts to hurt them financially.

0-conf is good, but you can't avoid 50 tx chained limit unless there are blocks with transactions.

EDIT: As I point out below, if you are worried about censoring their transactions, just consider the fact that Hathor is censoring our transactions right now. They are an attacker.

    Amazed at the BCH fees!

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 04:10 PM PST

After being screwed over multiple times on small balances when moving Ether across wallets I honeslty just gave up trying to do anything related to ERC-20, came across this subreddit and have been reading about all the upsides BCH has that BTC doesn't and honeslty im sold, love the community, no idea why it's being shilled everywhere else because today I moved ~$60 for less than a cent. Amazed at how friendly it is to small holders (which is the majority of the world when cryptos scale)

Many years are required to reveal true value

    Posted: 28 Dec 2020 06:26 PM PST

I remember when I first heard about Ripple (XRP) and how a company was largely in control of it and most of the coins were already issued and held by the company. I was like what is the point of this? This is the exact opposite of what we are trying to accomplish here. Next thing I know the price of Ripple skyrockets, but I chalk it up to either (1) the mass public being misinformed or (2) me not fully understanding the value proposition.

Well here we are and the SEC is bringing a suit against the company and exchanges are delisting it and all of the issues with centralization are being brought right to the surface. It took like 5+ years for this to happen.

I'm confident that BTC is going to be over $100K in this decade. But I'm also confident that $100 fees will pretty much destroy the direct use of BTC as a currency. Like Ripple, it will take many years for this weakness to come to fruition.

Let's be wise as a community and make the right long-term decisions for BCH. Mainly, (1) leave it alone, (2) build more secure, private, and useful wallets, and (3) keep the fees low so merchants can use it. It's not unreasonable, in fact over the next 10-30 years it is very well likely, for BCH to flip with BTC and be known by the simple moniker "Bitcoin" and leave BTC known as Bitcoin Core.

What are the main differences between these two coins, and in what way is BCH superior to LTC?

    Thanks for answering in advance.
