Could someone ELI30 dusting attacks? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:11 AM PST All I can find are "simplified" explanations that don't make sense to me. They generally say that when you mix the attacker's dust with your other funds, the transactions can be traced through blockchain analysis until you find a de-anonymized address. Ok, fine. But it seems to me you can skip the dusting step and jump straight to blockchain analysis. Just pick any transaction that has been made in or out of the address of interest and start the trace there. How does the dust makes this attack any easier? Explainers often point out that the dust is just a UTXO sent to a public key hash until it is spent in a transaction. And again, fine, but so what? I understand how that works, and I understand the forward trace has to wait until the public key is revealed, but what does the dust have to do with it? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Dec 2020 03:06 PM PST They invalidated the original chain, passing it with hundred+ blocks. EDIT: They had a split at 662687 after someone invalidated a block and created a split. Today, however, the new chain has 50 blocks more than the old chain, but then a lot of exchanges have been using the old chain. Amaury Sechet, everyone. [link] [comments]
