Frances Coppola: A large part of the reason why cryptocurrencies are now popular with the mainstream is that the cryptocurrency ecosystem has firmly Tethered itself to the legacy system. Cryptocurrency investors mostly measure their wealth in US dollars, not in Bitcoin. Getting rich in US dollars is what they want to do. Replacing the US dollar with cryptocurrency would seriously damage their wealth. It is not what they want to do.

The original vision of the early Bitcoin adopters was that cryptocurrency would replace the legacy financial system. But instead, the cryptocurrency ecosystem is being absorbed into it. A decade from now, cryptocurrencies will be a normal part of the investment landscape. And when central banks start issuing cryptocurrencies, they'll become a normal part of the payments infrastructure too.

But replacing the US dollar, and the banks & central banks that depend on it? No, that will still be a pipe dream.

In eth2 will everybody use the eth1 shard?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:42 AM PDT

I'm trying to understand the impact of eth2 shards on the ecosystem. Eth1 is going to become just one of shards and it'll carry over all the contracts and state. That will mean that all the ERC-20s, DEXs, DeFis, DAOs and so on will stay on a single shard.

    1. How is it supposed to improve scalability if all the old ecosystem will stay on a single shard?

When new contracts are written, they will have to choose between good interoperability with the existing tooling and having a cheap and fast shard. Many contracts can't live without the ecosystem, but being expensive and slow is not necessarily a deal breaker.

    2. Won't new contracts keep being deployed to the eth1 shard?

    Eth Wallet Address

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:26 AM PDT

Hi redditors! Can someone rectify this for me?

I recently downloaded a wallet that accepts ETH and USDT (they have addresses starting with 0x) but they mainly run on a diff chain, problem is i tried searching this address in etherscan but it returns nothing, but i am still able to get my funds across, in and out.

How can i know if this wallet is legit? I always thought addresses would show up in etherscan

Edit : asked the Dev team, they admit it's a cloud wallet not a decentralized wallet
