GPU Mining Mem Clock is Capped

GPU Mining Mem Clock is Capped

    Mem Clock is Capped

    Posted: 16 Sep 2020 01:21 AM PDT

I am overclocking and undervolting my 5700XTs while mining ethereum and trying to maximize the mem clock because changing gpu clock does nothing. SO i dropped GPU clock down to 1500 and the voltage down to 900mV. This is all stable and so now i try to up the mem clock for more hash rate which has a base value of 1750. It let me go up to 1900 Mhz but if i make it a number any higher it resets back to 1900. I've heard of people going up to +800 on their cards and that +400 could easily be handled on most cards but this only went up 150Mhz. What's happening?

What is the most efficient gpu available ?

Price doesn't matter at all. I'm asking which gpu has the highest hashrate per watt.

Can't jump-start second PSU on b250 mining expert

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 04:52 PM PDT

I've got a rig running with 6 GPU's. However, I've decided to power my risers over PCI-E since I've read that powering them over SATA is a power hazard. Now I had to get a second PSU because the one I have now does not have enough PCI-E outputs to power all of them. So I've hooked up my second 1200W PSU, plugged in the 24pin, 2 GPU's (The other PSU powers the 4) and after having tried jump starting it multiple times, it appears that only the original first PSU will start, but the second one is completely dead. No click, no light, nothing. The GPU's that are connected to the second PSU also don't light up. I tried plugging the 24 pin of the new PSU into the A socket and removing the original, but also dead. Maybe the PSU was dead on arrival?

After having searched for a solution to this problem, it seems getting a 24pin splitter could maybe be the answer? However, in the case of the Asus b250 mining expert, I can't imagine that being the solution? I've tried plugging the risers all into A section, then separating them to B and A respectively, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any experience in this case?

RedBios Mod worth it ? Report vs Effective Hashrate discrepancy

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 01:40 PM PDT

GPU: 8 x 5700xt Sapphire Pulse (all RedBios modded 1550 timing)

OS & Miner: SMOS / Phoenix

    Pool: Ethermine eu1.ethermine.org:5555

I've been playing around with the OC/undervold and the best setting I've found that works is:

    1300 core, 915 mem, 800 under volt.

My effective & reported hashrate are: 436 reported / 395-405 effective

With an effective hashrate of 395-405 it makes me wonder if the RedBios mod was worth it. Should I change my cards back to stock? Anyone else having this issue ? Maybe a pool issue?

    Questions about USB Watchdog?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:46 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I am looking for a watchdog for my rig which is running under smOS from a pendrive. I can hardly find any information about them.

Can it restart my rig if the system is on a pendrive, not on a HDD or SSD?

Does it need any driver installation or just plug and play?

Is there any difference between the red, black and green ones?

    black

    red

    green

Which one do you recommend or anything else for substitute?

PCie express cables best practice with server psu

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 08:51 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I am replacing my ATX PSU (moving to gaming PC) on my 6 GPU mining rig (3x1070 + 3x1660ti) with a server PSU (HP1200w) and I'm wondering about the most efficient way to connect the breakout board to the GPUs and risers.

The board has a total of 12xPCIe connectors and I only want to use the minimum number of cables to keep it clutter free but also safe from a power standpoint.

    Can I use:

A- 6 cables total with a splitter on each to power both the riser and the GPU with on cable.

B- 3 cables with splitters powering the risers only ( 2 risers per cable) Then 1 cable per GPU for an additional 6 cables .... 9 cables total

C- 12 cables total: 1 cable for each riser and 1 cable for each GPU

Lastly, do you recommend a low power ATX to power the mobo/drive etc or a pico type psu?

    Thank you for your feedback

PS: I know that the server PSU will not output it's max wattage because I'm using 110v outlet instead of 200-240V .... but my rig total power consumption is only 650w ...
