We must take ABC's misinformation campaign seriously

The latest propaganda piece by Bitcoin ABC: "After the upgrade, Bitcoin ABC software will continue to be fully compatible with the Bitcoin Cash protocol, whereas alternative node implementations will become BCH-incompatible."

Amaury wants to be paid to do basically nothing

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 12:14 AM PDT

Have you looked at Amaury's twitter account? The guy spends almost all day on twitter retweeting and posting about 'IFP' - all day long -

It is very clear to me that Amaury wants to receive 8% of the 'coinbase' without making much effort or ... worse, by doing nothing at all.

It has been raised by many people that the most he does is copy/replicate the core development tree.

The guy is a cancer and needs to be removed from the project as soon as possible. Can't wait for nov15.. I'll receive free money from the split and Amaury will be gone for good. WIN - WIN

Copy of Bitcoin Cash DevCon video that was censored by ABC?

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 02:54 PM PDT

I donated to the Bitcoin Cash DevCon Flipstarter, and was only halfway through watching the video of presentations before ABC censored it.

Does anybody have a copy of the video that was censored by ABC? Is it on LBRY?

    Follow up on rules proposal

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 09:57 AM PDT

Last week I made a proposal for new requirements to participate in /r/btc. Although there wasn't 100% consensus, the majority of the people here who participate in this subreddit agreed the rules should be updated. This is a post to notify the community the new rules are now in effect. Here are the two new rules:

--- # Age Requirement author: account_age: "< 72 hours" action: remove action_reason: Removed, account age less than required. Please try again later. message: | In order to prevent zero hour comment brigading, spam, scams and abuse, brand new accounts must age three days before posting or commenting to /r/btc. This process is automated and after three days, your ability to post and comment on /r/btc will automatically be set to approved. Please try again later. If you get this message again it means your account hasn't aged long enough yet. Thank you. --- # Karma Requirement author: comment_karma: "< -15" action: remove action_reason: Removed, comment karma less than required. Please try again later. message: | Hello, your {{kind}} was removed due to your account having negative karma. In order to participate in /r/btc, users can not have less than -15 comment karma. Feel free to try again when your karma has improved and meets the minimum karma required. Thank you.

I was a little more lenient on the comment karma, adjusting it slightly to -15 comment karma. This should help with all the spam, scams, and abuse that has been problematic for this sub. As we have grown tremendously and continue to grow, this is the minimum that we can do to help keep a healthy environment here for everyone who wants to participate in good faith.

Enjoy Your Free IFP Airdrop when we finally say goodbye to Amaury

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 01:59 AM PDT

Everybody now understands that the community and all developers outside ABC are against the 8% tax on block rewards going directly to ABC.

ABC still has a few supporters but these are dwindling by the day as they start understanding how this 8% tax changes the IFP coin to such an extent that full power rests in the hands of one man.

Even people like myself and George Donnelly that once backed ABC, have realised the error of supporting the "benevolent dictator", as he can no longer keep the word benevolent, and therefore should just shorten his title to "dictator".

55% of miners are already signalling suppot for BCHN. This number keeps rising every month.

What are you planning to do with your free IFP airdrop?

    Questions about the Lightning Network

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT

I want to understand better how lightning network is designed. From what I know.

    1. LN nodes create channels, where you can connect to make transactions.

    2. You can't receive funds on LN wallet if you have zero balance?

    3. If new nodes connect to the channel, do they create a mini network similar to Blockchain? Do they all store transactions that are being processed within channel? (I've seen a claim that LN txes are stored on sender's and recipient's devices.)

    4. Assuming that LN can process a large amount of transactions, what happens with the node size on this case? Are all of this transactions recorded into LN node / multiple nodes forever?

    5. Are there listening nodes and nodes that confirm transactions in LN? Or all nodes are equal?

    6. Do LN channels operate independently? If I make payments via X channel, will the channel Y be aware of my transactions?

    7. If Bob creates channel A, and several users make payments on channel A, what happens if Bob switches off the channel A?

    8. What happens if some other nodes connect to channel A and Bob switches off the channel? Do the rest of nodes continue to run without Bob's node?

    9. Why there is no statistical data about transactions by count on LN? At least I can't find any.

    10. Who gets fees from LN transactions? (New question)

What disadvantages LN has got, except being a L2, except making transactions with zero confirmations. What are the risk of using LN in your opinion.

    Electron Cash History Filter plugin

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 02:37 PM PDT

I created a tiny plugin to Electron Cash to scratch my own itch.

    https://github.com/jonas-lundqvist/historyfilter-plugin

The problem I was facing was that I had a lot of transactions in my history that I didn't find particularly useful, for instance received dust, cancelled flipstarter pledges and inter-wallet transactions. I wanted a quick way to filter those out and scribbled together this plugin.

What it does is to filter any transaction description that starts with a certain prefix from the history. By default any line that starts with a semi color (";") will be hidden when the filter is applied (right-click and choose "Apply prefix based filter". Another filter prefix can be chosen in the options menu.

I just released v0.2 and the zip file can be found here:
    https://github.com/jonas-lundqvist/historyfilter-plugin/releases/tag/v0.2

Install by downloading the zip file -> Open EC -> Tools -> Installed Plugins -> Add Plugin -> Browse to the zip file.

I hope this helps someone somewhere to get a more clean wallet history.
