    first rig, help!!

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 07:20 PM PDT

Hello humans, me and my friend have decided to invest in a mining rig (planning to mine ETH) which will hopefully utilise 4 5700XTs. we're splitting the costs due to obvious reasons. The plan is to use an old prebuilt HP Z230 as a donor machine for the mobo, CPU (i7-4770) and RAM (16GB DDR3). the upgrades will consist of 4 5700XTs and a beefy 1500W PSU along with a open bench "case" for all the GPUs.

The main concerns I have are: - is the PSU enough? - are better hash revenue approximations accurate give or take $5? - what software should I use for max efficiency? - where should I keep the rig without getting a heatstroke? - is there anything wrong with my setup/plan?

Any interest in a mining scheduler?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 09:06 AM PDT

I started writing this for me, but am wondering is it is worth putting online for others. (I only run Linux so it is a Linux based script.)

In a nutshell, there is a config that holds a list of miners (name, directory location, miner cmd line) and the script lets you call by name a miner or rotate to the next miner in the list. It remembers which miner it was running and the systemd service will start that miner back up on reboot.

I currently have the following options in it.

    Usage: mining-scheduler <OPTION>

-b # used when booting up or when you want to restart the miner

    -s <miner> # starts a given miner

-r # rotates to the next miner

-c # clears the system run and pid files

    -q # Quit/stop running miner

I wrote it because I have a small miner I wanted to use to do low cap alt coins and mine each for a week. So I have cron rotate the miner every sunday.

If there is some interest Ill write an installer script and put it up on github for others to use.

    Any thoughts on betterhash?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 03:26 PM PDT

I'm thinking about giving up on Nicehash and move to Betterhash. Anyone using them at the moment? Is their estimate any good? I ran a test run for 48h one one of my miners and was underwhelmed. How do I know I'll really get paid for what I mine? Or should I move to mining ether directly? Thanks.

    2nd GPU Card error.

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 03:21 PM PDT

    2nd GPU Card error.

I have a H110 BTC Pro motherboard. Running Hive OS I installed one ASRock RX 5700 and it worked fine. I went to install the second one and it ran for about 10 or 20 minutes, then there was an error. I tested the risers and cables and they were okay.

What I did next was test the ASRock RX 5700 that didn't work as a solo card. It starts up and runs, but then the screen immediately goes green. I am trying to figure out what this means and what I can do to fix it.

Here is the screen immediately prior to before it turns green.

Any difference in terms of mining for either one of these?
