Do you care more about profitability or usability when mining / supporting an algo?

    Hi GPU miners!

When you decide to mine a cryptocurrency (or support its algorithm), do you care more about usability or more about profitability?

For example, if you mine ETH, do you care about a state of ethereum project or are you interested only in profits?

    Thank you!

    GPU Rig Setup

    Posted: 24 Aug 2020 06:44 AM PDT

I set up a 12 card rig a couple of years or so back and it ran well with the odd tweak here and there and then one day I began having a few issues with getting it to re-boot after going down for maintenance or what ever but it would boot up again until one day it just stopped booting up altogether. No post no nothing.... just a paper weight. Price was crap and I was short on time so i just let it sit for a bit. I finally had time and went back to it the other day and did some testing to figure it out and although it seemed unusual it looked like the CPU was dead so I replaced and still nothing. I ripped it all down to just the MB and tried again and still nothing. I did a pin test on the PSU's and the fan turns when jumped. There's power going to them at the plug (115V). So I swapped out the MB (Asus b250) for a new Asus P270-P I had and tried that. The LED strip on the MB lights up but no joy when I turn it on.... no CPU fan no PSU fan no thing. I swapped out the RAM for new RAM at which point I had a completely new system with the exception of the PSU's..... still nothing. I have tried all three PSU's and multiple cable configs and nothing. I tried jumping the pins on the MB in case the PWR SW was bad and nothing. So two Pentium processors (LGA 1151 4400's), 4 sticks of DDR4 Ram, 3 PSU's (Corsair 650,850 HX and EVGA 850) and two MB's (Asus b250 Mining Exp and Asus Prime Z270-P), two SSD Sata ( bot ) drives and no joy. This was a functioning system (I used a server PSU to power the risers and cards but removed along with the cards for testing purposes). The only thing I can think of is the CPU power outlet on the PSU? But again all three PSU's and one of which wasn't even hooked up to the system at the time? What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Problems with RX5700 Memory timings

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:43 PM PDT

    Hi all ,

    I have a small rig, Asus B250 mining expert - g3900 - 8GB 2133 RAM - 1600watt PSU - HiveOS

And I've added 2 RX 5700's , ASUS ROG STRIX. After watching some videos by redpanda and other yt miners I wanted to do some memory timings to get better hashrates as i'm stuck at around 52 Mh/s. I did everything as told in the videos : -download bios from GPU (keep an original) -use RED BIOS Editor to set timings -use amdvbflash with CMD in windows(administrator mode)

When flashing the BIOS I always get the same error 0FL01 BIOS authentication signature mismatched. I was able to flash it to an rx5700 XT without problems. It's only the memory timing bios that doenst work. I tried with both GPU's and both have the same issue.

Hoping that anyone has an idea how to fix this. Thank you in advance !
