Is it possible to create a stablecoin (in a permissioned blockchain) that money supply grows according to demand?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 05:40 PM PDT

    For example:

I have 100k in a bank account. So I sell 100k in tokens to the people who want to use it. Then, more people want to use it at some point, and I start to issue new tokens and sell it to people and keep the money of the selling in the bank account, as the asset backing the tokens.

    Sorry for my english.

Is it something like that possible?

    Dumb Question - What’s a Ether?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 05:35 PM PDT

So I'm playing some game and it gives me ether and satoshi or litoshi

Are these just fractions of the tokens? How much is a fraction for 1 Eth? And is it called Ether? Or is Ether a separate token all together ?

Dev help: accessing Geth transactions in Go

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 05:41 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm working on a project in Go to monitor transactions on the network. Is there anyway to run Geth in tandem and have it pass every transaction it sees to my project? Ideally I'd get everything, even before it gets checked for validity and added to the mempool.

How many unique Blockchains actually exist?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:33 PM PDT

Hi there - I am trying to find out how many truly unique Block chain technologies there are out there. I used to think that all these coins were all new technologies that had built there own Blockchain until I actually started playing with them and found that most were Ethereum tokens requiring endless Eth fees to send or receive them. While many of the older coins and new coins are clones or forks of Bitcoin or Ethereum can anyone shed any light on how many fundamental technologies are out there?

When Medalla launches (likely Nov. 2020), will this officially result in a full PoS chain or will it be hybrid PoW-PoS?

Gas prices higher than bank fees

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 01:43 PM PDT

I've been into ethereum since early 2016. In those days, you could send a tx for fractions of a cent. Now, when I play with defi stuff (mainly DEX) or even just moving stuff around between myetherwallets, tx fees are rarely less than a dollar, in some cases $12. Worst one I saw was mStable at a whopping $98 tx fee!! This is insane.

Yes, I know you an play around with gas fees as the defaults sometimes get it wrong, but jeez I shouldn't have to wait hours just to get a reasonable tx fee. I have dribs and drabs of shitcoins I'd like to consolidate so I can trade, but it's prohibitively expensive to move them.

What gives? What's making it so damn expensive right now? Is there are clear path to being these fees down? Or do we have to wait until Eth 2.0 for this? Just curious cos I think fees like this will scare off any normies especially from the financial sector dipping their toes into defi. Are there Layer 2 things we should all start using?

    MetaMask's interaction from a browser - what & why

    Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:08 PM PDT

I'd like to know something about MetaMask, the question is semi-technical but not entirely, so I'm here rather than StackOverflow.

When javascript interacts with MM (from the browser) you can do some on-chain actions... for example you can obviously submit transactions (be they payments or contract calls), I think you can get the balance of the user's account... what are the on-chain interactions you can do and what can't you do... and how do they deal with them? Do they hand them off to Infura and pay for them? Do they run their own node?

What do they service in terms of on-chain stuff (reads and transactions) and how was the decision made?
