Ways to cheer on the Ethereum core devs? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 10:51 AM PDT Is there anyway we can celebrate the work Eth devs are doing on the Medalla Testnet? Kind of like how fans line up near the finish line to cheer racers in a marathon. I think anything we can do to keep spirits high on the final push to ETH 2.0 we should do!! [link] [comments]

Best place to buy Ethereum as a Canadian? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 03:31 PM PDT Hello all, sorry in advance if this is a stupid question but, what is the best place to buy crypto/ethereum if you live in Canada. I was planning on using coinbase, but i saw a few posts in other subreddits saying coinbase is bad for Canadians. [link] [comments]

Writing an EIP with Matt Garnett Posted: 24 Aug 2020 07:05 AM PDT The first episode of an EIP focused series is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnu4m4bBqCs. We hope this will help people understand the dos-don'ts before submitting an EIP for the first time. In this series, we're inviting authors to explain an EIP and answer community questions. So, if you're curious to learn about any EIP or have any questions for the author, please comment below. [link] [comments]
Help with some basic kdf crypto? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 12:37 PM PDT Hey- I'm phildo, the guy who made expandpass. While expandpass doesn't directly make use of any cryptography, I've been using it to help crack people's ethereum (and other) passwords as a hobby/small business for the past couple years. Anyways-I wanted to play around with some of the cryptography involved on the other side of the equation (normally handled by hashcat). So I've created this playground repository (a single c++ file) to mess around with some concepts. I'm going off the v3 specification of a wallet file to try and replicate password verification, and something just isn't working. My (simple) process:
Unfortunately, it doesn't. I'd appreciate any tips on why that may be. The current output I get (using data from the repository included testwallet.json) is: Other details: I use the Botan library for crypto operations. If you edit the cmake file to point to your installed Botan path, and drop the .dll next to the resulting executable, you should be able to run this no problem on windows. (And I have no reason to believe this shouldn't work identically elsewhere). Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]

How do you create a Etheruem paper wallet easily please ? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 06:14 AM PDT I am completely new to this and I would be really grateful if someone could explain this to me please. I need an easy way to create an Ethereum paper wallet. I tried this You Tube video but it moves to fast to follow and not clear text: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU_PGNiGXE8 I went to following but still did not work. https://kb.myetherwallet.com/en/offline/using-mew-offline/ Thanking you in advance. Do DEXes help with privacy, aside from no KYC? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 05:39 AM PDT When it comes specifically to privacy, how are DEXes better than CEXes aside from no KYC? Not talking about censorship resistance or anything else; only privacy. Every single ERC-20 token you trade on a DEX from your Web3 wallet will be tied to that wallet's ETH address, for all to see. This is worse than with centralized exchanges, because centralized exchanges don't write your trades on the blockchain. So many transactions later, once you've tied a token to your identity in any way (e.g. pay your landlord), all your activity through DEXes will be traced. Without even a subpoena to the DEX. This is less private than with CEXes, because CEXes would have to be subpoenaed to turn up your records. In the landlord example, your landlord can see everything you've ever done on the Ethereum blockchain with those coins at Etherscan.io, which also does wallet deanonymization. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 11:32 PM PDT Is there any possibility that a smart contact I have interacted with in the past could come back to haunt me? Say someone buys an S coin and stakes it, is it possible that someone could execute code to steal a different token out of my Ether wallet? [link] [comments] |
