Ledger Isolation vulnerability is much more dangerous than people might think

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:03 PM PDT

The recently revealed vulnerability in Ledger is much worse than people might think.

At least I could see on Ledger and Bitcoin subs, that people think, they are safe if they do not download some malware on their pc/laptop.

    But this is wrong.

The issue can be exploited also when you use only standard applications on your Ledger which are affected (BTC and its derivates)

The attack vector here is, if some tricks you to interface with the malicious web wallet with your Ledger. (so no you do not need to install anything to lose your coins)

    As an example:

    1. the attacker sends you a link for LTC web wallet (he says it is a new really great wallet and want you to try or whatever other reason)
    2. you think you are safe, after all, Ledger protects your private keys and everything has to be confirmed. So you connect and will try to send out some LTC to the attacker just as a donation or anything else.
    3. The web wallet sends spoofed transaction to your Ledger, so you think you are confirming LTC transfer, instead your BTC is sent out

There are many scenarios like this. You are affected anytime you interact with your Ledger and any web service. (not only if you use fake sw wallets)

I explicitly asked about it and this attack vector was confirmed by Ledger.

    Stay safe.

Did crypto.com commit insider trading of their ICO token?

Did crypto.com commit insider trading of their ICO token?

    Hi Reddit,

I could use a bit of help in understanding the current MCO situation. Perhaps someone whos quite good at eth chain analysis or ICO law can help me understand.

    Given the following scenario:

    • Monaco issues ICO token MCO.
    • Monaco uses proceeds from ICO to purchase and become crypto.com
    • Crypto.com traditionally holds millions of MCO in its hot wallet, buying and selling on the open market. (See attached hot wallet balance chart to this post)
    • Crypto.com decides to remove MCO internally by issuing a buy-back (swap) program.
    • In the months leading up to the buy-back announcement, crypto.com elects to stop buying MCO on the open market and liquidate millions from their hot wallet.
    • Given crypto.com's internal knowledge of upcoming closed market buy-back program it:
      • Liquidates MCO at higher than normal rate
      • Stops purchasing MCO on the open market

Is the above scenario a financial crime? If not, why, if so why?

Is buying a few thousand in BTC worth it ?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:08 PM PDT

I feel like BTC is in general just rising with some dips and dives here and there but steadily increasing .

I don't know much about BTC besides the common knowledge and from the dark web .. I feel like I don't have the time or knowledge to invest in stocks or even where to start .

I can easily buy BTC through Cash app.. but the fee for the amount I purchase probably will make me lose a decent amount right off the start and I'm not sure if there is a withdraw fee

Is it worth putting money in BTC through cash app for a period of time? I just have money sitting in the bank not really doing anything in terms of growth
