    Ethereum Gas Guzzlers

    Ethereum Pending Transactions 7/13/2020

    Currently the network is congested with over 91k pending transactions. During peak times, it can reach upwards to 150k in the mempool thus causing higher delays and higher gas fees as senders are paying higher transaction costs to be included in the miner's block. This trend is plaguing the platform and needs to find a solution in the meantime while users wait for ETH 2.0 to launch.

    Due to the top gas guzzlers, Their average GWEI pushes up prices of gas during times of high network usage. (See below) Whenever USDT is being used/minted, it produces at an average of 43.3 GWEI thus pushing the price up for miners to incentivizing taking their transaction first over smaller GWEI transactions.
    Averaged out as well, 11.5+7.69+2.99=22.18k GWEI weight= 43.3+34.9+42=120.66=40.06
    Aver GWEI weighted for amount spent + GWEI:
    USDT: =28.7%
    Forsage = 19.19%
    Uniswap = 7.4%
    Which means 28% of the time if USDT is active, you are expecting to produce a 40.06 GWEI or higher, Forsage at 19.19%, Uniswap at 7.4% for a fast transaction. A 40 GWEI transaction currently with these gas guzzlers in play, will take you up to 30 minutes for your transaction to clear and be placed into the block by a miner.

    Just some food for thought.

    Why don't just use Ropsten for non-money related contracts?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:09 AM PDT

    I am a beginner and this might be a very silly question - but why don't just deploy and use smart contracts for non-money related applications on Ropsten itself. Say a school wants to use blockchain for its attendence system. Mainnet will cost some money while Ropsten will be free. (And if it does in fact happen that people do use Ropsten for such purposes, doesn't it affect ethereum as a whole as people get their data mined for free?)

    With gas cost skyrocketing is there an app (or something) I can use that will alert me when prices are low? My google fu is failing me today

    Tutorial: Create, Deploy and Connect a front end ERC20's using DappHero, Remix, and OpenZeppelin

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:43 AM PDT

    Hello!

    I'm building DappHero.io a tool that lets you connect your website to smart contracts using only HTML tags. I've created a tutorial on how to quickly build using ERC20 contracts using DappHero as the connector to a front end, and Remix + OpenZeppelin for the smart contracts.

    Did you know that you can send onchain messages that will notify almost all ERC20 wallets? 70k gas tokenized messages for use with your smart contracts or just to say hey. Try it out. Good for payment memos
