GPU drawing too much power on specific miner Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:19 PM PDT So I've been mining for a week , and this morning, I noticed my GPU(gtx 1060 6GB) was causing way too much noise. I specifically looked at the T Rex mining log and saw that I was hovering around 150W and having my fans at near 80% usage and temps were nearing 75°C. I've been mining Ravencoin for less than a week and I haven't encountered this problem. A few days before, I had started mining in general and had mined ethereuem. So I went back and checked if I would encounter the same problem. But my readings are normal(63C, 60-65% fan speed, and 107W) and my computer isn't making the horrible noises it was making while mining Ravencoin. I've shut down my PC numerous times, and I even uninstalled and reinstalled T Rex miner. And still the GPU is doing way too much work. Have I configured something wrong or is there something wrong with T Rex miner? [link] [comments]
Should I rotate cards occasionally? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 12:41 PM PDT Figured Id ask the experts. Question on Temps and if I should rotate them. I have a 2x VII rig. Open air test bench. GPU One is always 10-12 degrees higher. Im assuming its because of location. Its between the CPU and GPU2. Temps are around 72 on average for GPU 1 and at 61 for GPU 2. If I switched them, Im assuming that its the placement and not the actual card. I know some cards vary but it seems logical that its placement right? [link] [comments]
Best place to GPU mine in the home Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:27 AM PDT So I've been GPU mining for over 2 years now with a couple rigs in my home office. Yes they are profitable as I have an average or below electric rate. With summer and 90+ temps here, the additional heat from my miners increases my homes temp and causes my ac to run a lot. I have a bonus room above my garage that is cooled though it stays pretty warm up there. I was wondering if moving my rigs upstairs would help my cooling situation downstairs. I do have a window unit upstairs that can help cool the miners but there is an intake duct for the central ac too. Internet and power should be no issues either. Would the upstairs help the heat?
