I am Jeremy Rubin the author of BIP-119 CTV, AMA! Posted: 04 Jun 2020 08:35 AM PDT Hi /r/Bitcoin! My name is Jeremy Rubin and I'm the author of BIP-119 OP_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY. Verification on Twitter. I figured running an AMA would be a great opportunity to get community feedback on the proposal and answer any questions about CTV or anything else you want to know! Some basic background: CTV adds a new capability in Bitcoin scripts that allows you to control how coins can move around. Before CTV, once you have the signatures you can spend the coin however you want. After CTV, you can make it such that a coin has to go through a sequence of steps and signatures before it can be spent. This lets you, for example, build time release Bitcoin vaults. There's a ton of other use cases and material available on https://utxos.org to learn more. I personally recommend starting with Aaron van Wirdum's article https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/secure-the-bag-cutting-transactions-in-half-to-resolve-bitcoin-network-congestion which explains the basics & how CTV can improve scalability in an approachable way. I'll be answering questions real time for 3 hours starting at 9am PT, and will answer any remaining questions throughout the day. Ask away! p.s. ask the AMA questions here, but be sure to join the TG group for updates & discussion longer term https://t.me/op_ctv_chat p.p.s., some people have asked where they might send some coin. I have an address here https://utxos.org/sponsors_addr/ which is signed through utxos.org and keybase (3LPmfWnmQcPK1T9mSVGtoMmcQXbRAuUfus). You can DM me for a non-reused addr or to discuss how funds might be used. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 10:22 PM PDT Hi guys , my graphic design business and SEO business is now accepting bitcoin as a payment method. I am super excited about supporting bitcoin long term and how it can improves our bottomline. Infact , bitcoin payments is a "requested" feature by SEO clients doing casino websites. This proves that adoption is getting there slowly but steadily or so I would think. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 03:47 PM PDT The anticipation I feel when I send my hard earned money to an address just hoping it shows up sometime soon And the relief I feel when it arrives The anxiety I feel withdrawing from an exchange before it gets hacked And the relief I feel when it returns back safely Going to bed up hundreds, waking up down hundreds and yes, going to bed down hundreds and waking up down more hundreds Hiding my seed somewhere safe and hoping it's still legible if I need it and sharing that location with someone I trust - for now Sleeping with my Nano in my pillowcase and waking up with Ledger imprinted on my cheek The desire to Hodl versus the desire to take a profit, after all, Hodling is way more important than taking profits The thrill of recognizing and warding off endless scam emails and phishing attempts that haven't been able to fool me (yet) Suggesting to friends and family they invest in Bitcoin and having them look at me like I'm out of my mind Teaching a newbie about Bitcoin and frustrating myself to no end, and not caring that I was once them Reading about technical blockchain stuff that is so far over my head I have to have an out of body experience to grasp it Perpetually wondering if Bitcoin will go to a million or zero or at least 11K again Buying all my Bitcoins at $19,783 and savouring the deal I got Dreaming my $10/Bitcoin buy limit order for $10,000 worth may accidentally fill Bashing myself for not being an early adopter and missing out on a chance in a lifetime These are some of the reasons I LOVE Bitcoin! How about you? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Jun 2020 01:55 AM PDT Got my bank account frozen earlier today due to a Localbitcoins transaction, which really chaps my ass. Sold off some BTC, and apparently the Interac e-Transfer that hit my account was fraudulent. So due to the bank's shitty security protocols and them allowing a fraudlent payment to go through, they decided it was a good idea to penalize me and just freeze my money. Then I find myself stuck on the phone for a couple hours, talking to some stranger sitting in a call center on the other side of the country, asking for their permission to access my own money, which I was denied. Sorry, but I shouldn't be penalized because they're security sucks and they dropped the ball. This is why I like bitcoin. It's my money, and nobody can touch it except me. I don't have to ask some stranger's permission if I'm allowed to access my own hard earned money. Fucken banks, I'm pissed... Anyway, any advice on good Bitcoin based debit cards? I know there's AdvCash and I'll grab a couple of them, but if you know of any other reputable debit card providers out there, I'm all ears. I'm going to distance myself from fiat, as it's total bullshit that people have control over my own money like that. If anyone else has had their bank account frozen due to shit like this, feel free to use this thread to vent. I'm pissed... that's my money I worked really hard for, assholes. [link] [comments]
