Because the recent influx of scammers lately I want to do something nice for everybody. $50 of Bitcoin to the first 10 people to post their wallet address.

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 04:17 PM PDT

Because I've been seen a lot of post lately about people getting scammed with these free Bitcoin giveaways and how you have to send the money to receive money I'm going to send $50 a Bitcoin to the next 10 people to post there wallet addresses.

    There's nothing else to it.

    edit:.OKAY NO MORE ADDRESSES.

As for the paranoid dude with top comment... Do you even understand how Bitcoin and Bitcoin wallets work? You're loss.

Everyone else, thanks for letting me farm your data. Suckers.... Jk.

Edit 2: Okay, I lied. I sent 12 of you $50 in bitcoin BUT, the fee came out of your $50 so you're receiving $49.00 instead.

    Edit 3:Proof

Edit 4: I was going to do another giveaway of $100 to 10 random redditors but now I'm regretting even doing the first giveaway. There's so many paranoid fucks that need to go outside and stop being cynical. No one on reddit is a unique snowflake, nor do any of you matter to the point that someone would give away $1000 dollars in Bitcoin just to find out who you are. Get the fuck over yourself naysayers.

The reason I did this was because I made a post on Facebook to give $100 in Bitcoin to 10 random people that wanted to get started with Bitcoin. Only 1 person responded so I came here to make some people happy.

My life is shit and the only way I can make myself happy is to make others happy. So thank you to the people that decided to shit in my Cheerios.

My time on this earth is limited and I can't take my money to hell with me.

CAUTION: CHASE Bank likely hacked - Do not do P2P trades until issue resolved

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 01:01 AM PDT

P2P trades using Chase Pay or Zelle for the payment method might be at risk

There are people on social media reporting that there have been unexpected funds being credited to their accounts. There has been no official communication from CHASE bank yet as to why this is happening.

Chase Pay is an "instant" payment method used by many who do P2P trading. Zelle is another method to send an instant payment using a bank transfer.

Because these Chase Pay and Zelle transfers could be coming from a buyer who is spending the "free monies", it is probably best to pause any ads / offers on P2P exchanges with either Chase Pay or Zelle until Chase figures out what's going on.

[Update: Many are now reporting that their account balance is back to reflecting the proper, expected balance. ]

    Lightning Network is sweet

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 06:23 PM PDT

First off, i'll come out and say it. I'm not on the hold bitcoin forever train. Im more of a, deposit $ on to bitcoin and try and use it as I would my bank account but hoping to get some solid ROI instead of the terrible interest rate a checking account would. As I spend BTC I can simply buy more. Anyways....

Just wanted to say that for those people who haven't tried using the lightning network, give it a shot. Download a mobile wallet, transfer some sats to it and try sending a few transactions out. I recently started using Bluewallet since IOS lightning wallets aren't as common as android but there are some other ones out there as well.

My next step is to set up a lightning node to have full custody of my keys like I do with my trezor but the custodial LN wallet has been SUPER simple to use. Just don't put more $ on there than you would be willing to loose since at the end of the day you are trusting someone else.

I think in the future a simple lightning wallet and buying sats directly off-chain should be the recommended route for people new to bitcoin. That way they can get a feel for it before moving on-chain where fees can be MUCH higher and waiting for confirmations etc can be a turn off for some.

If you haven't tried it you should. P.S. ln.pizza is amazing and is definitely the kind of transactions that would make bitcoin get more adoption. Also buying gift cards on the Fold app with lightning makes for a decent discount.

I try to run Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool, offline. Nope.

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 09:03 PM PDT

I put a copy of bip39-standalone.html on an air-gapped machine I load it into a browser.

It says, "Loading..." at the top. A progress bar moves from left, to the far right. But the "Loading..." never goes away.

The web page is otherwise unresponsive / useless, even after waiting for the progress bar to "complete".

Oh, gee. I'd like to generate some HD addresses without having my seed phrase broadcast or sent to some secret server....

    Help?
