Correcting the Record: Avalanche is in Prototype Stage and Needs Funds to be Production Ready

    Posted: 19 May 2020 11:25 PM PDT

I made a mistake while arguing against Storm proponents that want to adopt a wait and see attitude. In so doing I shorthanded my responses for Avalanche being 1 year away. Specifically, Amaury mentioned that Avalanche is at prototype phase using the following terminology:

But there is that prototype so you know we know its there, we know that works and we need to transform that into something that is production ready. What I've been doing on my side, so on ABC there is already a start of an implementation and same you know that I would qualify as prototype stage that is not production ready. - Amaury Sechet

In other words, I made a mistake in trying to create a discussion. You may stone me now but I hope discussion of development in this community continues despite this oversight.

Where can I find a good BCH blockchain API

    Posted: 19 May 2020 08:43 PM PDT

I would like to find something like https://blockchain.info/q/getdifficulty but for BCH. All I can find is half-baked and/or outdated API's. Any pointers would be welcomed!

    Bitcoin Cash from users’ perspective

    Posted: 20 May 2020 12:01 AM PDT

Back to 2009-2010 we saw a lot of promotional adds for bitcoin on YouTube, google and other websites. As a result bitcoin gained mass popularity and skyrocketed fast. We don't see any adds for Bitcoin Cash anywhere else. Isn't it a smart idea to introduce Bitcoin Cash to the mass crypto fans who blindly use bitcoin knowing the high fees, long confirmation time, double spend attack by replacing with higher fees etc. Nowadays, most of the newbies consider crypto as bitcoin, they don't realize there is a better option like bitcoin cash.

I have made an article in which I give the current status of my country, which is immersed in a dictatorship in the midst of the pandemic, I also count how i survived these last few months thanks to BCH, I hope that everyone will be very well and we can get out of this together.

Suggestion: I think someone from BCH community should write a book on the history of bitcoin from a perspective of big blockers including the role of Silk Road in pushing the usage of bitcoin in its early years.

Non obvious realization: Blockstream's scaling plan didn't just halt Bitcoin adoption, it effectively nullified existing adoption as well

    Posted: 19 May 2020 06:24 AM PDT

We know high fees is what caused big merchants like Steam and Microsoft to stop using Bitcoin as well as many smaller merchants. Bitcoin Maxi's attempt to spin the argument but these merchants have explicitly stated that high fees and uncertain confirmation times due to a clogged blockchain were the reason for dropping Bitcoin as a payment option. Sauce:

    https://i.redd.it/t2zigce3djz41.jpg

But the other important part that most don't realize, and this is key, is that by pushing p2p electronic cash to a 2nd layer, ie Lightning, they've also nullified all the existing adoption for Bitcoin that was supported up until now. This is because merchants that accepted Bitcoin don't necessarily accept Lightning by default and more importantly Lightning still isn't production ready. Bitcoin is still in a limbo where the p2p electronic cash function is not ready for production use.

Hell we still have the Lightning developers themselves warning users: "Don't put more money on Lightning than you're willing to lose!"

    https://twitter.com/lightning/status/1171458597206675456

So not only did Blockstream's scaling plan for Bitcoin halt Bitcoin adoption, it also nullified all adoption at this point because merchants now need to adopt Lightning which is forever 18 months away for the last 6 years now with no end in sight. Who wants to use a blockchain that costs whole dollars in fees, or risk getting stuck in the blockchain for over 2 weeks?

BTC coin Transaction Fees: The Price of a Son of Baconator Burger

    Posted: 19 May 2020 02:14 PM PDT

In 2017 & 2018, many HIGH-PROFILE merchants (Microsoft, Steam, Stripe, Expedia) stopped accepting Bitcoin *specifically* due to high fees. I predict BTC's high fee situation will return with a vengeance, especially once next bull run begins to accelerate.

Does avalanch consensus algorithm replace proof of work?

    Posted: 19 May 2020 10:56 AM PDT

[Religion ruins everything] I've been working with a guy for YEARS and happily paying him first in Bitcoin, BTC now BCH of course. He tells me now Islam "does not allow Bitcoin". WTF. Anyone see this? How have you dealt with it?

    Posted: 19 May 2020 01:10 PM PDT

Anyone else ran into this? Seems beyond dumb to me. He says he has done a lot of research and is 100% sure, he is not allowed to touch or use Bitcoin.

I feel like I live in lala land more than ever. So r/bitcoin and BTC want the highest fees and fewest number of people using Bitcoin as possible and now 25% of the world is not "allowed" to use it?

Are people really this stupid and I've just been sheltered from it my whole life or is Bitcoin under some sort of attack?
