Vaultoro CEO: Unpopular opinion, but I'm tired of the hodl meme. The velocity of currency is important for adoption and infrastructure. Spend & earn bitcoin. If you can't earn it, then buy it back when spending. Without spendl, great projects like purse.io end up closing.

Where To Spend My Bitcoin? The list...

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:21 PM PDT

Purse.io was the first place I learned you could actually spend bitcoin for real things... and now it's gone!

Now, over the past few months ive been bookmarking websites that accept bitcoin and today I found https://dundle.com/ and thought - how many websites are there out there like this that I don't know about?

So I wanted make a thread inviting everyone to share links to websites that accept Bitcoin - this would be a great thread to share with friends who are new and ask "ok but where can I spend it?"

Here's what I have so far

    1. https://dundle.com/
    2. https://www.acceptedhere.io/
    3. https://acceptbitcoin.cash/
    4. https://coincards.com/us/
    5. https://www.gyft.com/
    6. https://www.egifter.com/
    7. https://bitrefill.com

How long can this list get? help me out!

[Lesson 102] Most Blockstream/Core trolls are completely illogical - /u/BeardedCake

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:06 AM PDT

Today I'm debating regular troll /u/BeardedCake here who makes this statement:

Are you really this naive to assume that majority of BCH hashrate does not come from Bitmain? If Btimain flips a switch, 90%+ of BCH hashrate disappears and similar is true for around 60-70% of BTC's hashrate. - /u/BeardedCake

In a nutshell /u/BeardedCake claims the following:

    • 90% of Bitcoin Cash's hashrate comes from Bitmain

    • 60%-70% of Bitcoin's hashrate comes from Bitmain

...His own words. For the sake of the conversation I'm not even going to argue against his statement, instead just use it against him because he just cornered himself.

After several attempts of his to put words in my mouth, I asked him to quote me, which he was unable to. Shocking I know. Mostly because he realized his logic and reading comprehension skills are stunted to a 3rd grade level.

Instead he decides to rush and reach a unique conclusion of his own:

OK good now we can agree that BCH is centralized shitcoin just like 99% of all other altcoins. Everything else does not matter. - /u/BeardedCake

The illogical and conflicting views of troll BeardedCake should be glaringly obvious by now. Let me make it very easy for even the least technical person in this forum to understand:

Q: How much hashrate does it take to centralize a coin?

    A: Hashrate over 50%

And he just claimed Bitmain controls 90% of BCH's hashrate and 60%-70% of Bitcoin's hashrate both which are over 50%. Yet he claims only BCH is centralized, not Bitcoin despite in his own words saying Bitmain controls 60%-70% of Bitcoin's hashrate.

By his own words and views he should have also mentioned that Bitcoin is a centralized shitcoin just like 99% of all other altcoins.

Ladies and Gentlemen this is the average intelligence of trolls around here. They reach conclusions that conflict with their own views and statements.

Is bitcoin really un-tethered? this paper looks at the btc / tether connection; it examines if tether is not back by dollars and is printed to pump prices mainly btc

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:58 PM PDT

here is the paper, its quite long but a good read. below ive added some quotes. If you read this paper it will likely just confirm want most who have been in this space for a while think about tether, its centralised with no accountability and is likely not backed 1:1 and is likely an instrument to pump prices.

    Is Bitcoin Really un-tethered?

    some snippets from the paper:

flow of tether between exchanges, the main players:

Figure 1 plots the aggregate flow of Tether among major market participants on the Tether blockchain from its conception in October 6, 2014 until March 31, 2018. The size of the nodes is proportional to the sum of coin inflow and outflow to each node, the thickness of the lines is proportional to the size of flows, and all flow movements are clockwise. Tether is authorized, moved to Bitfinex, and then slowly distributed to other Tether-based exchanges, mainly Poloniex and Bittrex. The graph shows that almost no Tether returns to the Tether issuer to be redeemed, and the major exchange where Tether can be exchanged for USD, Kraken, accounts for only a small proportion of transactions. Tether also flows out to other exchanges and entities and becomes more widespread over time as a medium of exchange.

A similar analysis of the flow of coins on the much larger Bitcoin blockchain shows that the three main Tether exchanges for most of 2017 (Bitfinex, Poloniex, and Bittrex) also facilitate considerable cross-exchange Bitcoin flows among themselves.6 Additionally, we find that the cross-exchange Bitcoin flows on Bitcoin blockchain closely matches the Tether flows on Tether blockchain.

a large player is likely responsiblle for a lot of this:

we find that one large player is associated with more than half of the exchange of Tether for Bitcoin at Bitfinex, suggesting that the distribution of Tether into the market is from a large player and not many different investors bringing cash to Bitfinex to purchase Tether

people who worked on the inside even admit tether isnt backed 1:1

in response to legal motions, on April 30, 2019, Bitfinex's former General Counsel admitted that Tether does not have cash reserves equal to 100% of the outstanding Tethers. In a May 15, 2019 court hearing, a Bitfinex attorney also admitted that Tether did invest in instruments beyond cash, including Bitcoin, something clearly at odds with Tether's longstanding claims.

    Free thinkers support BCH:

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:36 AM PDT

We end by inviting people to simply use the tech for themselves. Readers should compare BTC, BCH, and all the other coins to make up their own minds. We embrace the competition. Plus, if our analysis is correct - and BCH is actually a superior coin for the marketplace - there is currently a great investment opportunity! If people regretted not buying Bitcoin back when it was a few hundred dollars, this could be another opportunity.

In the price quote request, I was sure to mention the reason I found them was because of their acceptance of cryptocurrencies and that I was specifically looking to pay with "Bitcoin Cash".

Edit: to all the people saying I don't really own a bitcoin. Sorry guys, but the btc thing is really something different. Bitcoin is a plane - and the btc people have built a boat, I guess you can still call it a plane, but it doesn't fly so lets just call it what it is, a boat.
