    Announcing: Bitcoin Cash Node

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 06:18 PM PST

    BU fumbled the ball. Again.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 12:58 AM PST

This is going to sound harsh, and isn't meant to be cruel.

But there was nothing at all from stopping them, with their squad of developers and $6M war chest, from forking the ABC repo, stripping out the IFP, and releasing their own MVF "Bitcoin Node." This probably would have been seen as a huge win for them and would have resulted in their team finally having a politically relevant node that people mine on.

I and others even suggested this! There was a whole thread on it.

Instead, in classic BU form, they failed to act, leaving it to volunteers to figure out.

BU might have good developers and good ideas, but their organizational structure seems to be always on the back foot and playing catch up.

Bitcoin Cash Developers Fork ABC Reference Implementation Client, Create "BCH Node"

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 06:57 PM PST

In support of Bitcoin Cash Node, an alternative to bitcoincash.org is in the works.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2020 12:07 AM PST

Why is ABC and team doing this? Honest question.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 04:56 PM PST

Bitcoin Cash is facing a major crisis, caused by the lead implementation (ABC) attempting to push through controversial changes that the majority of the ecosystem clearly disagrees with. If ABC does not withdraw its plan we will definitly see another major chain split, guaranteed.

InstaBitcoin, organization funded to spread BCH in Venezuela and serve as exchange between Bolivares and Dollars to BCH (and viceversa) is not supporting the current IFP lead by ABC devs

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 01:48 PM PST

InstaBitcoin (InstaBitcoin.net), organization funded with the help of key figures in the community, is not going to support the current Funding Proposal lead by ABC devs.

Even if we are not important or key members to vote against or in support of this, we want to clear our position as an organization that works to spread BCH to the people (lead by Oscar Salas, Wecx and Im_uname).

We are not supporting the current funding proposal plan as we see high risk of facing another split.

We support the idea of achieving more agreement before applying any financial plan into the code of Bitcoin Cash (If necessary) as well as creating better proposals that don't require code implementations.

InstaBitcoin.net will remain working to spread BCH until a decision that goes against the philosophy of Bitcoin Cash is placed.

    Thanks for reading, InstaBitcoin

We must become organised to stop a corruption of the BCH protocol

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 06:58 AM PST

Yesterday BitcoinABC released version 0.21 of their client. In this release a consensus rule is included that requires all BCH miners to pay 5% of their block subsidy and 5% of the fees they receive to a set of up to 4 BCH addresses. These addresses are controlled by:

    • BitcoinABC
    • Electron Cash
    • BCHD
    • "General Fund"

This significant change in the protocol is to be activated using a BIP9 method. It will activate when at least 66% of 2016 blocks are produced by miners running their new release. There is no end date for the tax once it has been activated, so it will go on indefinitely unless manually removed with another hardfork.

This is occurring in the context of an almost unanimous opposition by the BCH ecosystem of businesses, miners, projects and users. This is something that they are fully aware of and have decided to ignore and push ahead anyway.

While it is of course true that the community needs to make sure there is sufficient funding for the projects within the BCH ecosystem that deserve it, and that the funding is provided voluntarily, there are currently numerous efforts under way to create software that makes this as simple as possible. For example, Flipstarter, U-DID, , and pool Donations. There is also a significant amount of will in the community to provide funding if sensible and concrete proposals are put forward.

This change is not only a fundamental change to the properties of Bitcoin as described in the original whitepaper, but has the high likelihood of causing a major split if the entire ecosystem does not work towards stopping it from happening.

Many of us are now organising an effort to oppose this fundamental change. We need as much of the ecosystem as possible to put their effort into stopping this if you don't want this to happen, so please join us at:

In the interest of showing again just how much of the ecosystem is against this change I have added the list again below.

Where did we go so wrong?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 08:19 PM PST

How did an attempt to raise funds for protocol development result in attempting to oust the lead dev, the person who created it in the first place?

How could things escalate so fast? What proof is there that Amaury did this selfishly and not at the request at some miners?

Did you even give him a chance to respond to all the criticisms hurled at him? I recall someone request the ABC devs create a proposal for money specifying what the money will go towards, has enough time gone by for him to do that?

Seriously don't you think this is more emotionally fueled than logically fueled? Look at the timing, right as BCH started breaking out a massive outcry on social media.

Please look at my post history from before this drama, I supported and defended BCH continually on Reddit even in /r/cryptocurrency when I knew I'd get auto downvoted.

    Nobody wants a split, but

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 01:22 PM PST

It is crucial that the agreement goes toward refusing the development fund.

The development fund will reduce the coin to a company coin, we will be down there with XRP and IOTA. Total coin destruction. The end.

The current drama is also a consequence of people not being able to have nuanced thoughts and opinions

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 09:59 AM PST

I'm quite a bit annoyed by the situation as it really looks like there could be another BCH split again. Cut a network effect in half and you'll not end up with 2 times 50% of that network effect but significantly less..

How did we get here again? I think it's the consequence of incapability of nuanced thinking. More concrete: In the years of the big scaling debate we were always told that hard forks are dangerous. They told us that they will lead to a split and are generally a great risk one should never take. We learned that this is not true.. hard forks are sometimes worth the risk. But instead of just realizing that the extreme position that hard forks should never be done and are never worth the risk is perhaps too extreme - we did what people mostly do (since apparently it's too f*king hard to not think in extremes) and went straight to the other extreme: Hard forks are no risk at all.. They're super cool and we should do them every fcn 6 months from now on..!

It's ridiculous.. If ABC will get through with their IFP then it's because of this retarded lack of nuance people have in their heads. We trained the whole ecosystem to do these HFs every 6 months.. I won't be too surprised if ABC gets everything they want despite almost everyone else being against it.

Clearly Roger has demonstrated that he has an entrepreneurial mind by building such great products around BCH. And if he is offering help, I'd snap call this amazing offer from bitcoin jesus himself

Is there an effort to divide us? Regardless of the outcome of the dev-fee discussion, we need to work on remaining united; a major split would be very costly at this stage.
