Thanks to /r/buildapc, we're stealing this periodic thread idea! Thanks guys!

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and searching before posting!).

    Examples of questions:

    • What should I mine?

    • Is this build good enough to mine?

    • Which PSU should I get for _____ GPUs?

Important: Downvotes are strongly discouraged in this thread. Sorting by new is strongly encouraged.

Please remember that we're here to HELP you, not do it for you.

Have a question about the subreddit or otherwise for /r/gpumining mods? We welcome your mod mail!

Many questions/concerns already answered in our sub's WIKI: https://www.reddit.com/r/gpumining/wiki/index

    Ubit riser -- version issue

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 09:32 AM PST

I've been using Ubit 3in1 risers (green/red ones), and I just realised I've mixed up some different riser/PCIe connector versions ('connector' being the small that goes into PCIe 1x mobo slot)

From what I can tell, riser version SU22111701 goes with the VER.009C connector, and version SU09091701 goes with VER.007S connector..

Is it bad to mix these up? Can the SU22111701 riser work with the VER.0007S connector? They look identical apart from the version/SU numbers.

Had some issues with rigs lately and trying to find the problem, suspecting risers, but not sure if this is it.

    Any help/experience appreciated..

Rig crashing - kernel power error after 2 min - tried everything, looking for new ideas

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 08:29 AM PST

I have 5x Palit 1070 rig with Corsair 1000W PSU that's been working for 2 years until recently.

After starting almost every miner my rig crashes after 1-2 min with kernel power critical error (event viewer). It's stupid because sometimes it works for 5 days without any error and then it starts doing this.

    Current settings:

    - Latest Nvidia drivers 411.66

    - power limit 80%, all other on stock (don't have enough PSU power to run at 100% in this case)

    - Cuda 10.1 installed

    - 50GB of virtual memory

    Trying to start:

    - MiniZ 1,5s cuda miner (Beam)

I've installed all latest Windows drivers, GPU drivers, HDD has enough space, nothing is running in background, PC is almost clean. I'm using MSI Afterburner for overclocking. After everything is as clean as it can get it still crashes with same error. Also I tried unplugging and plugging everything (GPU cabels, risers, power cabels etc.).

This same shit happens on other miners software with other coins.
