    Examples of questions:

    • What should I mine?

    • Is this build good enough to mine?

    • Which PSU should I get for _____ GPUs?

Important: Downvotes are strongly discouraged in this thread. Sorting by new is strongly encouraged.

Please remember that we're here to HELP you, not do it for you.

NEED ADVICE - Cyber Monday? Want to buy a GPU to mine (Windows PC)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 12:04 AM PST

I used to mine a ton and then sold off almost all my cards. I have a mining rig (with no cards) just aching to get back in the fight. I can do either AMD or NVidia - what should I buy? Anyone see any irresistible Cyber Monday deals I need to grab?

    Please help!

Does anyone here do folding@home instead of mining traditional coins like Etheruem?

Even though all I have is a GTX 970 and a Ryzen 5 1600, I still try to mine crypto for the fun of it, lol. Like everyone else though, profits for cryptocurrencies have gone down. I found a program called folding@home though, which I can earn Curecoin from. Instead of just doing block chain calculations, the program folds proteins for scientific research on diseases such as cancer or Alzheimers. Then I receive a small Curecoin payout for my contribution to science.

Does anybody do any distributed computing projects on their rigs since profits are down? The folding@home subreddit and others don't really have many people on them. Thoughts?

What are you going to do when PoS is standard?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 03:47 PM PST

Will gpu mining just die or will mining alt coins and converting still be a common strategy? If existing coins moved to PoS it'll most definitely be a hard fork. Will PoW coins still exists when PoS is possible?
