No more DevCons in countries actively practicing genocide, please Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:28 PM PST I feel that holding a DevCon in China was quite unfortunate, simply because it treats as normal a regime that has moved squarely into levels of collective evil approaching the Nazi regime and reminiscent of the experiments of Dr. Joseph Mengele. However, I also fully recognize that, at the time DevCon 2 was planned and held, the reality that China is running concentration camps for millions of Uighur Muslims and farming Falun Dafa disciples for organ transplants was not well known: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/11/16/world/asia/china-xinjiang-documents.html https://chinatribunal.com/final-judgement-report/ In the future I would hope that DevCons will be held in countries not actively practicing genocide against segments of their own population. I also think basic standards of personal liberty should also be required, such as access to an uncensored Internet. [link] [comments]
PSA: Make sure to upgrade your Ethereum nodes prior to the Istanbul fork! Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:19 AM PST With the Istanbul fork scheduled for block 9.069.000 (a little over 5 days from now) being right around the corner, it's important we try to get as many nodes as possible updated. According to https://ethernodes.org/istanbul, only ~35% of running Ethereum nodes are Istanbul-ready. Although the most important thing is that a majority of the miners have upgraded their nodes, which seems to be the case, we shouldn't forget to remind everyone that runs a node which isn't Istanbul-ready to upgrade their nodes, to make sure no syncing issues will occur. Here's a list of node versions which are ready for the Istanbul fork:
Harmony/ethereumJ is deprecated and will not support Istanbul. More information on the Istanbul fork: https://blog.ethereum.org/2019/11/20/ethereum-istanbul-upgrade-announcement/ Please update your nodes folks![link] [comments]

A little over a year since accepting Ethereum as a payment processor Posted: 02 Dec 2019 03:23 PM PST It has been a year since we intergrated Ethereum as payment on our website, initially we were getting a good orders from this but lately it has been much slower. I was wondering if you guys feel that this is simply due to the downturn in the market or if you feel people are shying away from using Ethereum instead of the traditional forms of payment. We currently use coinbase commerce's api to process our payments so i was thinking maybe people aren't fans of this payment system and if so what other ones could you recommend? My website is www.tongjerky.com if any of you would like to check it out and give me some feedback on it or the payment gateway, that would be much appreciated. Also if anyone would like to order they can use the code 'ETH' for 40% off as a thank you to our fellow adopters. [link] [comments]

What is the most decentralized+user friendly way to start a banner marketing platform with ethereum? Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:44 AM PST Abstract: I want to start a simple banner marketing platform in the most decentralized way as possible. Problem: The value of a single click on an advertisement is possibly lower than 0.01$ (in most cases 0.001$). So if I simply write every data to the blockchain the infrastructural cost would be >100%. This amount is definitely unaccaptable. What other paths am I need to discover? My current thoughts: a., Do this with some kind of L2 solution (Loom, Raiden, State Channel, maybe Omisego?) Which one is cheap enough for that kind of operations? b., A hybrid solution: Store data in a simple database and withdraw money after it reaches a certain amount. e.g., 2$ or 0.01Eth as a minimum limit. In this case I need to store user data in a centralized database. c., Weekly withdrawal to customers: collect all tx on IPFS and send all to the blockchain with a batch tx. Where can I store the data securely? Can I automate the process? Any advice is highly appreciated! [link] [comments]
How do you grow a community for your dapp organically. Posted: 01 Dec 2019 09:28 PM PST Just launched a dapp that I think would be highly useful but not sure how to grow use. Try to promote on twitter and Reddit but there's just not much interest. Any thoughts on how to grow the community for a dapp. [link] [comments]
Christmas Presents from Jelly - try atomic swap and win 300DAI Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:35 AM PST Hey guys, we released our dApp on the testnet and we want to reach as many people as possible to give feedback on how it works and how to improve it. Jelly enables atomic swaps and looks a bit like Uniswap but the main difference is that we enable cross-chain transactions. This means, with Jelly you can exchange coins from different blockchains, e.g. BTC-ETH. It is nothing like Changelly or Shapeshift because an atomic swap is actually executed - coins are transferred/exchanged between the blockchains. It is absolutely decentralized and nearly feeless. The UI is extremely simple - everything happens in a few clicks. Now we start a new Bounty. You can join and try the dApp. 🎄 "Swapping December" 🎄 One of all swaps executed on Jelly in December will win 300$. On the 2nd of January, we will select one random address (live 🎥 ) which will receive 300 DAI. It is very simple - you just go to https://app.jelly.market/ and execute a swap. It takes a few minutes even less. At the moment you can choose to swap ETH, BTC, TRX. If you need help with the swap, you can watch this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=8gFrEhnrjLA&feature=emb_logo You can also vote in our survey which trading pair you want to see on the dApp - you will help us prioritize our development. https://twitter.com/jelly_swap/status/1199998327342940164 If you find any bugs or confusions, please give us a hint so that we can fix it and improve the dApp. https://discord.gg/3fCbp9U Also, you can join the discussion in our Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/823260878071807/ [link] [comments] |
