Validator rotation, state, stateless clients, and bandwidth in eth2 sharding Posted: 22 Dec 2019 03:10 PM PST I'm wondering what are the latest thoughts for how to solve the problem presented by the above factors? It's my understanding that rotating validators will have to catch up to the latest state for each new shard they are assigned to. The more frequent rotation the more secure the network is from collusion attacks. However the more frequent they are rotating, the more requirements in bandwidth they will need to obtain the latest state (or witnesses) in each new shard. This seems like a critical issue as it would be impractical from a networking perspective to have so much data need to be constantly transferred just to make basic transactions if the state is significantly large I saw on Eth research this post by Vitalik discussing 'welfare state' where clients maintain state objects touched in the last 3 months and have users pay a fee for nodes to store state beyond that. I wonder if such a solution is the best direction to take as I struggle to see how a growing state size will be able to be synced or transacted upon by validators with all of the storage and witness data requirements I'm curious to know what the latest research or thoughts are for this as we move towards Eth2 as it seems like it's potentially a big issue [link] [comments]
Proud moment for all the blockchain enthusiasts Posted: 22 Dec 2019 08:58 AM PST I was unlucky to see the Internet boom. But DeFi is answering to all my concerns. You're the king of your funds Thanks u/ethereum . We need more adoption with the implementations of blockchain [link] [comments]
