Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:45 PM PST Bitcoin is reaching a point in its development where I think it is time we focus on ease-of-use features of Bitcoin for the average Jane and Joe. It's not like it was back when we had to manually handle addresses and run our own nodes. People don't want to have to invest time or effort in order to benefit from something. Most folks don't even care about how it works or why. They only care about what Bitcoin can do for them. Bitcoin is safe. Bitcoin is easy. Bitcoin is for everyone. Just recently I saw a conversation on Facebook where a lot of people were having issues with Square, Etsy, Paypal, etc for banning them because they were selling mature items, or items related to "witchcraft" or w/e. These are exactly the people we need to target for adoption. People operating legal, but marginalized, operations in need of financial services. We have to reach for the low-hanging fruit first, and the easiest sell is going to be to people who can't buy anything else worth having. Go for people who have trouble participating in the legitimate money system and we'll find our next adoptive group. Point out that accepting and sending payments is as easy as 3 steps.
Offer to accept Bitcoin as payment for small favors, even if you know they don't have any. Somebody needs to pay you back for lunch? Gas money? Say you accept cash & Bitcoin. Keep it on people's minds. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:25 AM PST Hello fellow bitcoiners, i have been in the space for a little bit and have always kept up to date on bitcointwitter/cryptotwitter. I love a lot of things about the community and the fact that it is always growing. Just need to know a good guide to set up a bitcoin full node or maybe just a node and then maybe a lightning node as well. A list of items to get and a noobs guide would be great haha thanks! {NOOB} Best wallet for Kraken user? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 03:00 AM PST Hello, I keep reading that it's best to keep ones coins in a hardware wallet. As I'm pretty new to all of this, I do have a few questions: - What wallet hardware would you recommend? Any opinions on Trezor or Ledger? - How quick is a transfer to the wallet? And is it easy to transfer coins back in to Kraken to sell in the future? - Why isn't it safe to just keep ones coins on an exchange platform like Kraken? Sorry for the newbie questions, I'm still learning about this new technology. Many thanks! Regards, [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2019 10:41 PM PST I'd like to exchange [random crap coin] to [BTC] without going through the whole sign-up and verification process of regular exchanges. (e.g. like shapeshift used to allow when it was first launched.) There are many results for this type of thing in Google, but having never heard of any of them, it's easy to imagine that they're all scams, that will take a deposit of random crap coin, but then never send the BTC. Any legit recommendations? Thanks! Update: I was able to exchange via https://fixedfloat.com thanks to /u/cointastical. I had a slight hiccup, because the custodial LN service I'm using temporarily has a default 20 minute expiry on generated invoices... which expired before my FixedFloat deposit got enough confirmations. Luckily however, their support staff was friendly and got everything sorted, after I sent them a fresh LN invoice. Success! [link] [comments]
$15k to invest. Is bitcoin the answer? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 11:50 AM PST Quick question for the community. I recently came across a spare $15k from an old retirement account I forgot about. I want to invest it in bitcoin. Is that a good idea? For the record: 40 yr old, no other retirement savings. Studying to take the Texas bar, but will probably inherit the family home/land and some money in about 20 years. [link] [comments]

Where to sell a 2011 Casascius physical Bitcoin? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:11 PM PST In the Portland, Oregon area and trying to sell an original intact 2011 Casascius 1 BTC coin with the CASACIUS typo on the hologram. Any recommendations for where and how to sell the coin? No eBay account, and not sure this would be a good way to start eBay. Any other suggested approaches that would allow for an in-person transaction? The coin is in the official list (https://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt) with address 1Ao79Jc2EUQbBbN7ei9WKjLbmcGRcMLFXc, which can be verified on a block explorer as having been loaded onto the private key on the back of the tamper proof hologram on November, 27, 2011, and hasn't been touched (see: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1Ao79Jc2EUQbBbN7ei9WKjLbmcGRcMLFXc ) So far, the only step taken is just a local Craigslist ad: https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/clt/d/beaverton-2011-casascius-physical/7046319972.html [link] [comments]
