journalism payment project - seeking feedback Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:27 AM PST I'd like to start organizing a volunteer team of people to integrate Bitcoin Cash payments on news articles. the idea is wonderfully simple: people voluntarily pay for articles they like. the team manages a website with details, intriguing for publishers for how to include an address on the news page, some structured tags so we can track payments people make, top lists of we're ambitious, etc. but mostly, consensual, post-read payment to the organization directly, for any amount the reader wants. no name, no fuss, just 'yeah, i like this, keep up the great work' it's an alternative to subscriptions; it's an alternative to ads; it's an alternative to tracking; it's simple. each news org simply runs a Bitcoin Cash wallet, and the web CMS pulls an address and puts it on each page. they can run their own stats with a different address per page, or per session, or per view, whatever they want, ...or they can put the same address on their while site/every article and use web logs later for tracking. but i want this: i want to pay for news after i read an article how much i want. if this were a norm, we wouldn't need all these totally shitty journalism models to force people to pay before reading or get to sit through crappy/tracking ads. i know several previous projects have tried voluntarily payments and all have failed. they all tried to make a business out of it. this is not that. this is making the easy for both the news org and the reader, and not taking any money for the team in the transactions. thoughts? thank you [link] [comments] | ||
