    Ripple's Tech to Solve Banking Liquidity Problems?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:24 AM PDT

    Hi Everyone,

    I work for a global investment bank, supporting specifically the Treasury Department.

    One of the biggest Operational Risks in Treasury is that they may "Run out of money". No, seriously. The bank processes a large number of payments, with large amounts EVERY DAY (+$700m), while at the same time, grappling with regulatory capital (LCR) requirements.

    Because our money moves so slowly, we face major 2 problematic situations:

    1. An upcoming payable that's we have no liquidity for;
    2. We hold buffers of cash and 'High Quality Liquid Assets', which is obviously expensive (because money is not free, and we simply can't use it! It's gotta sit there to ensure that we comply with reg requirements).

      If we were short on money, and an unforecasted payable comes up, we're screwed. We'll have to borrow the amount ASAP, which could take days and can be very expensive! (We pay interest on borrowings from other banks)

    This means that our processes are built to ensure that our forecasting game is solid! Otherwise, we could find ourselves low on cash and failing to comply with regulatory liquidity requirements.

    Now...

    I have a presentation coming up to talk about potential solutions to this age-old problem. Ripple's tech is obviously a potential solution!

    Have there been any papers written to discuss how Ripple addresses this specific problem? Something I could potentially rely on? I don't want to make assumptions during my presentation, or make false claims about the XRP ledger or other Ripple products.

    I hope the explanation above makes sense. This is a real problem in the banking system.

    Thanks,

    A possibility or a pipe dream: Ripplnet used by Japan's new STO Association: SBI, Rakuten, Monex, Nomura, Daiwa, and Kabu

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:32 AM PDT

    So, the idea is that SBI's Yoshitaka Kitao is already closely affiliated with Ripple and SBI [basically most of Japan]. With these new partners [who are already invested in crypto].

    Do you guys think there is a possibility that Kitao will advocate the use of RippleNet and other Ripple/XRP services?

    Thinking out loud here. Thanks in advance.
