Bitcoin adoption growing in South Africa. Saw my first BTC ATM at Sandton City. SA has the 2nd highest Google trend search for BTC but hardly anyone speaks about it. Sure once we hit an ATH more people will come out.

Bought my mom a new car - thanks Satoshi!

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:08 AM PDT

I bought 14 BTC on February 28, 2016 for around $6k. Just sold 4 to buy my mom a new car, with some left over to pay taxes. I asked, but the dealer wouldn't accept BTC. It is the first new car my mom has had in 25 years.

    Bisq scams?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2019 02:13 AM PDT

Hi So I have two options:

    1. seller- Account is made 1day ago and asks a smaller fee.

    2. seller- Account is made ~90days ago but asks a bigger fee.

1.seller seems sketchy to me. Am I just being paranoid? Is it possible to get scammed in bisq?

Sorry If it's a stupid question, I'm new to this.

    Bitcoin community: support Hong Kong!

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:36 AM PDT

The similarities struck me. Both are revolutions. Both are fighting against extremely powerful enemies. Both are fighting against tyranny, oppression, fighting for freedom. Both have been accused of being associated with criminals, of being destructive, when in fact their enemies are the real criminals walking large. Both are being ignored, betrayed or derided by companies and businesses. Both are characterised by an enduring hope for a better future. Both are happening now. If you support one, shouldn't you support the other?

Hey all, what are the latest tools to monitor multiple xpub keys for the first 200 addresses? Or any random designated number

I wish wallets also surfaced xpubkeys as a first class citizen.

Turns out I sometimes have a lot of dust that gets valuable

What's the difference between buying and selling on Coinbase vs buying on Coinbase and selling on another trading platform?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2019 03:21 AM PDT

This would be my first trade. I see buy/sell on Coinbase. What's the difference between using that to make a quick profit (get my feet wet) vs using another platform to sell, such as kucoin or gdax?

Help a fellow bitcoin enthusiast out with a master thesis about the legal aspects of crypto currencies

    Posted: 12 Oct 2019 03:54 AM PDT

    I need your help!

A friend of mine is in her last year of law school in Belgium and is going to do her master thesis about the legal aspects of crypto currencies. Later on, she would like to focus on fraud, legislation, role of the banks, regulation of the crypto market etc. She would like me to help her getting started with this. I can explain her the basics of bitcoin/ crypto but I know very little about the legal aspects of it.

So far, I got a short list of things I think would be relevant for her:

    • Basics of Bitcoin and crypto in general
    • Regulation and history of ICO and IEO
    • Difference between securities and commodities
    • Regulation of crypto markets in general
    • ...

I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me to expand this list or give me some links to help her out!

Also, is there a good ppt presentation about bitcoin in general or/and about the legal aspect of this market? That could save us some time :)
