Posted: 07 Sep 2019 12:58 PM PDT This was an old idea, there was also a cartoon video that was promoting it. (I can't find it now ...) The idea is that, if someone (Bob) wants to buy BCH with "cash", without any KYC, he could just giving them (like 100€) in advance to a merchant that he trust. Then merchant has to install an app like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitcoin.merchant.app So Bob will set his own bch address on the app. Then the merchant can accept BCH, as long the sum of all payments is under the amount of money that Bob has given in advance (100€ in this example) I know that there is the volatility issue for Bob, but this is more a way to push merchants to accept BCH, to make it easier for them at the beginning. Also, the merchant can avoid any registration to payment services. It will be even better if the com.bitcoin.merchant.app could have the possibility to set a limit on how much bch the merchant can accept, to stay on the limit (100€ on this example) When the merchant goes near/over the limit, he can call Bob to recharge, to get other cash in advance ... or maybe now he (the merchant) will start to collect them directly :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2019 04:38 PM PDT Can't believe I'm still calling out scams today. Here's one from five years ago! Josh Garza's rhetoric reminds me a lot of progPOW's rhetoric that Kristy-Leigh Minehan uses when she conducts her social engineering attack on our friends over at /r/ethereum. A lot of populist/socialist arguments about "bringing mining back for the people," and "big bad manufacturers." Who knows, maybe someone will believe me about her, too. Reading this post again brings me back to the good days when Blockstream had not yet completely banned all intelligentsia from their yet-to-be captured subreddit. I'm banned now, too, of course. We need a YouTube Alternative built on Bitcoin Cash. Posted: 07 Sep 2019 10:28 AM PDT Not everything has to be onchain, and for videos, it would be too expensive to do that (thousands of dollars). Instead, it could be an IPFS uploading + BCH hashing directory with a built in BCH tipping service. We need this because social media is becoming more and more rampant with censorship, and the statist-happy BSV community is trying to be the first POW blockchain to take this niche (see Streamanity). Steem already created its DPOS YouTube alternative, DTube, but i think we can do a lot better than that. And now, i know this may seem far fetched, but what if we merged data from the YouTube backend and allowed anyone on this BCH platform to watch actual native YouTube videos? I know its possible, i use an app called NewPipe that allows you to watch YT videos on an alternative front end. There can even be a thing to where if you tip a native YT video, it sends a bot kinda like tipprbot to notify the original creator that he can reclaim the funds in BCH (perhaps theres a 30 day period for them to claim it). This could help mass-pipeline everyone from YouTube over to us to use Bitcoin Cash on a censorship free platform. [link] [comments]
