What to use for a full node now that mist is gone?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2019 05:24 AM PDT

Mist is gone. I come from the bitcoin/litecoin/vertcoin world where you download a full-node in the form of a piece of wallet software and you fully validate the entire blockchain on your local storage. Moreover, your private keys never leave your computer. Mist did this. Mist is now gone.

What replaces Mist with this functionality? Yes, I know geth is still the fundamental resource that downloads and stores the blockchain. Yes, I've read the migration posts by Alex and others. Yes, I've googled and gasp even searched here.

I could not find someone speaking in concrete terms. I want a local-only wallet for ethereum that uses a fully validated blockchain, stored on my local hard drive, with my private keys also being on my local hard drive. Does such software exist? If I have to use my web browser to make use of a website, the answer is automatically no. Even if that website is 127.0.0.1.

Can I continue to use the 11.1 mist wallet for the time being? Have there been any breaking network changes since then? Will geth update itself, or can I slap a newer geth in the place of the one that came with mist 11.1 to get around breaking network changes?

Thanks for helping this guy who hodled a little too hard with etherum, apparently. :/

Introducing Clarity, a language for predictable smart contracts

Raw real-time data needs to be aggregated, filtered, or combined to extract value for consumption by Dapps and smart contracts. That's where the Engine comes in. The backbone of Streamr's platform.

Stupid quick question on Phase 0

    Posted: 27 Jun 2019 10:09 AM PDT

I understand the gist of the ETH 2.0 chain and how it can't transfer back to ETH 1.0.

However, my question is will ETH 2.0 chain have any interaction at all with the ETH 1.0 chain? (besides receiving ETH 1.0)

Is this the thing were every 100th block ETH 2.0 will validate through PoS or is this totally different?

If it doesn't interact at all with ETH 1.0, is ETH 2.0 essentially just a live 'test' net for PoS while sharding gets developed?
