    Update on Long-Term Trend

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 08:04 AM PDT

Link to original post I made over 2 years ago.

Link to first update from 21 months ago

Link to second update from 15 months ago

Link to third update from 6 months ago

Since mid-2014, I've maintained a personal chart for Bitcoin's historical price. Even at that time, it was interesting to me to see similar trends in stability followed by quick jumps in price. Perhaps this is Elliott Wave behavior?

Here's the 4th update to the chart

The blue line is the price history (Gox before they fell, Stamp after that). For the red line, it's a rough trace of the first 1x box. The second and third portions are the same pattern stretched wider by a 2.3x factor - as Elliott waves would suggest fractals.

For those interested, link to my thoughts on why this behavior exists

As the sidebar says, this isn't trading advice. However, most TA is understanding that large populations of people can be "simulated" with mathematical models and then finding the one that best fits the data.

Bitmex Leverage Adjustment as Trading Strategy

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 07:02 AM PDT

Hi guys, I plan to use leverage adjustment as a trading strategy on Bitmex, but I need to clarify some points before.

Imagine that I had good entry points for long x3 and I'm now 100% into the position, no avaiable balance. I have no BTC left to keep increasing the position and I want Bitmex to give me back the margin I used, so I can buy more.

As I'm x3 my entry price and liquidation is so far away that I'm considering it safe. I want to go x5 or x10, so what happens when I increase the leverage bar?

    1) Do my number of contracts and entry price stay the same? So my real profit stay the same even that ROE shows something different?

    2) My liquidation comes closer to entry price as if I had used x10 from the beggining? It can be considered safu at this point as long as entry price doesn't change.

    3) How much margin do I receive? I used a lot of BTC to buy contracts when the price was low. Will Bitmex just give it back ignoring price increase?

That's it guys. I came to ask here because Bitmex sub sucks and also it can be a trading strategy to use low leverage in the beggining and increase it later when risk is under control. This is not really my situation right now, but I plan to do it if prices keeps going up. Looks like a good strategy to hodl a long term position in a bull market.

    Bitmex question

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 03:14 AM PDT

So I was playing around on the testnet last night and I entered a 100x long at 11400 with 0.01 btc, meaning my position was 1 btc at 11400 (as I understand).

I closed the position this morning at 12700, I didn't get liquidated and it showed my realised PNL at 1049% at time I closed the long.

However my balance is now only 0.02 - meaning the payout was only 100%

    Anyone got any ideas?

Confusion reading Coinbase Pro Depth Charts

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 09:37 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/aFpeyZ8

So when reading this depth chart; my first question is whether the current list of buy orders is represented on the left, or the right of the chart. Initially I thought the right side showed buy orders due to the label when hovered on; but now after reading some articles it seems like I might have had it reversed.

Assuming I'm right now; then the chart linked would show the volume of orders trying to SELL bitcoin are greater than the volume of orders trying to BUY bitcoin. And if I'm right there; it WOULD make sense why the number of people willing to SELL increases as the potential selling price moves up (on the chart).

If I'm wrong, that would mean the number of orders willing to BUY bitcoin are greater than the number of orders trying to SELL it; but also that interestingly, the number of people willing to buy BTC increases as the price goes up (there's no way that makes sense).

Sorry for the long tl:dr post but just hoping to have someone confirm I figured out my mis-reading mistake.

Bitcoin price is close to $13,000

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 06:40 AM PDT

The growth of Bitcoin continues rapidly and it doesn't yet clear what can stop it. On the night of Wednesday, June 26, the price of the first cryptocurrency not only exceeded $12,000 but also came close to $13,000 (+13.5% in the last 24 hours).

So, as of 05:15 UTC, Bitcoin rose by Bitstamp to $12 935, followed by the expected correction.

Capitalization of BTC at the morning peak has reached $228 billion, the index of dominance – of 62.1%. The total capitalization of the cryptocurrency market at the same time reached $365 billion.

The last time trading at this level was on January 21, 2018.

Other leading altcoins are growing in price more restrained, or even show negative trends.

Ethereum rose in price to $330 (+5.3% per day), XRP rose by no more than 1%, reaching $0.473. Bitcoin Cash also rose by about the same amount, breaking the $485 mark.

At the same time, the growth of Bitcoin almost didn't affect Litecoin, EOS, Binance Coin, Bitcoin SV and Tron – all of them are in the red zone, losing about 1% in price compared to 24-hour ago. Even more by more than 6% fell in the price of Monero.

Experts, meanwhile, warn that the current growth of Bitcoin is likely associated with the Tether pump and that in fact, there is little new money in the first cryptocurrency.

We will remind, literally the day before the price of bitcoin has renewed 15-month high at above $11450.

There are now more than 5,000 Bitcoin ATMs around the world. But do we really need them?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2019 08:23 AM PDT

With solutions like Crypterium or Coinbase anyone can purchase crypto on the go using their debit or credit card with only a few taps. Moreover, cryptocurrency holders can instantly cash out to any bank card worldwide.

That being said, crypto ATMs can turn out to be a temporary solution and become redundant soon.
