    BTC Dump: Pure Whale Manipulation

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 07:22 PM PDT

The BTC dump today was completely manufactured:

    • About 20-30 mins before the dump, a whale moved 25k BTC (worth $215M) to Coinbase: link
    • About an hour after the dump, a whale moved 14k BTC (worth $112M) from Coinbase to another wallet: link
    • 40 mins after that, a whale moved 11k BTC (worth $88M) from Coinbase to another wallet: link
    • 15 mins after that, a whale moved 10M USDT from one wallet to another: link

If you do a little math and follow the timeline, it's not hard to see that someone dumped 25k BTC for $215M and bought it back shortly after for $200M. In doing so, they pocketed $15M and walked away with the same amount of BTC as they started with.

    Fuckers.

Edit: For all those saying that no one was complaining when a whale entering the market drove the price us. No shit, all boats rise in that situation. In the one we're talking about here, only one group of people benefit whereas the vast majority are negatively impacted. That's the difference.

I sent 0.8 BTC to the wrong address. I got in contact with the owner.

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 05:24 PM PDT

So Binance has an auto fill feature for their withdrawal page. I meant to send my funds to my cold storage but instead it auto completed to 1JWES7kCXb4j7hjpLqSvoWZHCLiKV7Hr8c. By the time I confirmed transaction it was too late.

After digging through basically everything, I've determined this address is one that I've sent to before. It belongs to @cryptokings25 on Telegram, and he runs a paid signal group. I sent 0.01 to this address ~1 year ago.

I managed to get in contact with the guy, and he sends me this: https://i.imgur.com/r1XW6PH.png

At this point I raise my suspicions. Was he trying to get a full 1 BTC? I tell him that he can just keep 0.2 for himself, and he says this: https://i.imgur.com/bDYQ6Gj.png

He then proceeds to send me an address different from the one I sent: https://i.imgur.com/0v6BkzS.png (14xUCFPQV48uEvcZwqcWt5nYNGBe644vSe)

At this point I don't even think he has control over the address I sent the 0.8 to. I ask him to sign a message with the address of the original wallet, and our dialogue goes something like this:

    https://i.imgur.com/tKfflwj.png

    https://i.imgur.com/QsPrtEH.png

At this point I know with certainty he doesn't have control over the address. May this be a lesson to you all to check the withdrawal address letter by letter because it's so easy to be careless, like I did, about withdrawing and misplacing funds.

Anyway, I can somewhat sleep comfy at night knowing this scumbag didn't get a single dollar out of me (assuming he actually doesn't have access to the address). I hope his ex-wife uses the money for something nice, maybe a vacation or something.

Newly launched crypto trading platform with no KYC and blind escrow

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 09:14 PM PDT

While places like LocalBitcoins are forcing KYC and even preventing the ability for users to list cash-in-person trades. A new local crypto trading platform just launched today! Go visit https://local.bitcoin.com/ and sign up and take it for a spin!

The platform has no KYC and a unique self custodial escrow also known as "Blind Escrow" which prevents a third party from actually holding the funds. It supports the ability to buy and sell BCH with users all over the world, and sell any crypto for BCH using the "other" functionality. Great way to get around the banks and the painful process of dealing with exchanges. Make sure you read up on OTC trading and trade safely!

Serious question about why most Altcoins tank at the same time Bitcoin gets Whale dumped

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 09:04 PM PDT

Obviously the crypto space is driven by Bitcoins popularity and price but i cant understand why majority of Altcoins price decrease in the same fashion as Bitcoin Whale dumps. It just doesn't make sense how the entire crypto space just sells everything at once across what 30+ other coins?

Could someone give me insight because i can't wrap my brain around why people start selling/price just drops off a cliff for 30+ coins in the same time frame after a Bitcoin Whale dump..

Got scammed for the first time tonight. Not gonna be able to sleep over it and then some. How did you guys overcome your first (and hopefully only) crypto mistake?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 11:40 PM PDT

Ya so after years of watching out for older relatives, I am the one who gets scammed. Screwed up pretty bad and lost about $600 (1/3rd my portfolio and I only put away $25 a week) in BTC and ETH like an idiot. The site looked legit, didn't realize the address bar had a different name.

Has anybody else done something stupid like I did? Other than not falling for it again how did you get over the mistake? I'm sick to my stomach over it.

Discord now requires you to verify your phone number if you post a cryptocurrency address

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 06:15 PM PDT

In a DM in Discord, I sent an ETH address to someone who was sending me a few cents (to cover transaction fees). Discord immediately blocked the entire screen, asking me to verify my phone number (which I did) -- most likely scenario is that potential scammers (which are increasingly rampant) can hopefully be more easily identified.

It's great seeing that Discord is taking steps against scammers, and hopefully other messaging applications will follow in Discord's footsteps.
