Facebook Inc. FB 1.39% has signed up more than a dozen companies including Visa Inc., V -1.31% Mastercard Inc., MA -1.00% PayPal Holdings Inc. PYPL 1.07% and Uber Technologies Inc. UBER 5.07% to back the new cryptocurrency that the social-media giant plans to unveil next week.

"The collection of financial firms and e-commerce companies will invest around $10 million each in a consortium that will govern the digital coin, according to people familiar with the matter. The money would be used to fund the creation of the coin, which will be pegged to a basket of government-issued currencies to avoid the wild swings that have dogged other cryptocurrencies, they said."

how is this centralized coin any better? wasn't decentralized currency the end goal here (cryptosphere)? Will they also let our financials get hacked along with PIIs now? lol

    Centralized to Decentralized ecosystem

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 01:06 AM PDT

As this sub reddit is of cryptocurrency so most of us know that vision of Satoshi Nakamoto was to create decentralized ecosystem.

''A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.''

Bitcoin was born in 2010 and it is almost 9 years know and we are still using centralized things like centralized exchanges , web services like Amazon to host our crypto related projects and many other things.

Many big names are working on decentralized exchanges now, like Binance,Bithumb and some others. We do have some exchange like Idex, switcheo and some others which are working good but they have to do big marketing to catch high liquidity and new users. Binance is doing very good with marketing on their decentralized exchange and i just use their DEX, it is working smoothly. Someone send me BNB yesterday and i get it in 2-5 seconds only. It was amazing.

Most of us know about centralized cloud computing service providers, Amazon Web Services , Google Cloud Platform , Microsoft Azure and more. I realise that crypto projects are still using centralized cloud computing for their decentralized project. I consider it good if they can use Decentralized cloud computing service providers like Ankr network to host their websites and other things. This will be one of the more step to moves towards decentralized ecosystem.

Leave your thoughts below to make decentralized ecosystem better.

BIP39 24-word mnemonic recovery tool if any 1 word is wrong

    Posted: 13 Jun 2019 06:56 PM PDT

My first Python crypto script! I wrote this BIP39 24/21/18/15/12-word mnemonic recovery tool because I got PMed tonight with a question about how to recover a wallet if you think only one word is wrong but don't know which one. Based on some other scripts I found, credit given in the comments at the top of the program. Modded to cycle through all possibilities. Includes easy instructions how to run even if you don't know anything about Python. Hope it helps you guys.

Update: Now supports BIP39 mnemonics of all sizes 24/21/18/15/12-words

If it helps recover funds, tips optional but always welcome :). Bitcoin: 39NN4EVLvhZEzdwmd2XYZtnPCew2NDW1J3
