BIP39 24-word mnemonic recovery tool if any 1 word is wrong

    Posted: 13 Jun 2019 07:06 PM PDT

My first Python crypto script! I wrote this BIP39 24/21/18/15/12-word mnemonic recovery tool because I got PMed tonight with a question about how to recover a wallet if you think only one word is wrong but don't know which one. Based on some other scripts I found, credit given in the comments at the top of the program. Modded to cycle through all possibilities. Includes easy instructions how to run even if you don't know anything about Python. Hope it helps you guys.

Update: Now supports BIP39 mnemonics of all sizes 24/21/18/15/12-words

If it helps recover funds, tips optional but always welcome :). Bitcoin: 39NN4EVLvhZEzdwmd2XYZtnPCew2NDW1J3

Binance.com to block all US customers 9/20/2019, but will open new Binance US

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 12:21 AM PDT

This is not FUD. Links below.

Recently, Bittrex decided to block US customers from trading 32 coins.

Now, Binance (CZ) has stated they will soon block all US customers to use Binance.com. Simultaneously, they will be opening a new US based exchange called Binance US. This new exchange is likely to have a limited amount of coins available for trading.

Read their updated Terms and Conditions here (Section 3):

"By accessing and using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are not on any trade or economic sanctions lists, such as the UN Security Council Sanctions list, designated as a "Specially Designated National" by OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department) or placed on the U.S. Commerce Department's "Denied Persons List". Binance is unable to provide services to any U.S. person. "

It's getting harder by the day to NOT invest more than I can afford to lose

    Posted: 13 Jun 2019 05:20 PM PDT

On the other hand, as big players like Fidelity and ICE's Bakkt are joining the party it seems that Bitcoin is really starting to pick up steam, and becoming too big to fail. So maybe it's not that risky at this point? Like, when I put some money on a savings account I don't say I should not put more money on a savings account than I can afford to lose (although maybe I should given how banks mismanaged in the past, but that's besides the point).

    Same payer different address?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 03:31 AM PDT

Should I generate a new address for every single transaction or is it okay to use the same address if it's the same person transfering to me a few times? And why (given they'd already know the history of the transaction, is there anything else I'd be risking?)?

Bitrefill Closes $2M Funding to Grow Team and Advance Lightning Network Services

    Coindesk article: https://twitter.com/coindesk/status/1139156666920972288

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, June 13 – Bitrefill, a company that helps customers live on cryptocurrency, has successfully closed a $2M late seed round with a number of distinguished investors from the global cryptocurrency community. The round was led by Coin Ninja, with participation from Charlie Lee, Fulgur Ventures, Bnktothefuture, et al.

The funding round will allow the company to continue to build its suite of products and services for Bitcoin's Lightning Network, as well as expand into new international markets to enable more people to convert their coins into goods and services. Bitrefill intends to strengthen its development and marketing teams for further growth.

"We see it as a big token of trust that investors from the Bitcoin and broader cryptocurrency community have chosen to put their money behind us and support us in our growth journey." - Sergej Kotliar, Founder & CEO, Bitrefill

Bitrefill's gift card sales saw notable growth during the Bitcoin bear market of 2018 and accelerated in Q1 2019. Currently, the biggest product selections are for US and European customers, and the plan is to roll out a number of new products for selected other countries around the world throughout 2019. The team currently consists of 16 people with deep cryptocurrency industry knowledge and startup operational experience based in several countries around the world. The influx of cash from this funding round will allow the company to strengthen the team further, mainly growing the number of employees out of their HQ in Stockholm.

Bitrefill identified in 2017 that the Lightning Network is the most viable solution for scalable cryptocurrency payments and decided to make it a core competency of the company. They were first to market with payment acceptance remain the largest commercial actor on the Lightning Network. In 2019, they released the Thor & Thor Turbo products, which assist with onboarding to the Lightning Network. These services are newly available via a new ThorAPI service, allowing any platform to integrate seamless channel creation, capacity management, and Bitcoin refills from Bitrefill with minimal friction.

About Bitrefill: Bitrefill allows anyone to purchase gift cards or mobile refills from more than 1,650 businesses in 170 countries. Pay safely and privately with Bitcoin, Lightning and other cryptocurrencies. Founded in 2015, by Sergej Kotliar

"Bitrefill is helping to make living on cryptocurrency easier and I am excited to help them grow. Their participation on the Lighting Network opens up even more potential for Bitcoin and beyond." Charlie Lee

"Fulgur Ventures acknowledges Bitrefill contribution to the development and business use of the Lightning Network which in turn helps adoption of Bitcoin as a decentralized financial system.
