I don't "invest" in Bitcoin. It's just how I store my savings.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 01:46 PM PDT

Most people in this sub are constantly talking about "investing" in Bitcoin. That to me implies that the end goal is to cash out on one's investment, i.e. to sell Bitcoin for fiat. And this very premise tells me that these people don't quite get the value proposal of Bitcoin, which I understand as being a store of value, and eventually a better alternative to fiat currency. Thoughts?

Recommendation: Bisq Decentralized Fiat - BTC Exchange

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 08:54 PM PDT

I have been a part of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency communities for about 3 years now. I never had issues with purchasing BTC with fiat initially. Then my country went ahead and banned cryptocurrency exchanges and its trading. Then I moved to a different country and have been unable to purchase crypto via exchanges because every exchange expects you to upload a state issued ID. I only had ID from my home country, so this was not possible.

I finally found exchanges that were willing to accept the ID of my home country for verification and I thought it was smooth sailing from there. Then I realized that most exchanges only accept wire transfer of fiat currencies. For the small amount of money I intend to spend on crypto every month, the wire transfer fees were exorbitant (Think $25 fees minimum for each wire transfer. Now imagine I just want to transfer $100 at a time to an exchange).

Then I remembered there was a decentralized P2P exchange named Bisq that countless others had spoken highly about in this subreddit. I always thought the idea was awesome, but never really bothered using it as I assumed that the volume of trades and liquidity would be low on Bisq. But I was wrong.

Bisq has become quite popular over the years. It is being actively developed too, with many security measures in place. No KYC is required to initiate trades. The UI kind of takes some time to get used to, but once you find your way around it, trading comes easy. Bisq supports numerous fiat currencies and also various payment methods for each fiat. You keep your private keys and you keep your identity anonymous. Think of it like LocalBitcoins but without the unreasonable brokerage fee (LocalBitcoins is again a centralized trading place, so there are some risks associated with it too).

To all the newbies flooding the crypto space right now, I highly recommend Bisq.

    Find it here: https://bisq.network/

You are always welcome to reach out with questions, but I doubt it would come to that as Bisq is not that hard to get used to.

    I am Now a Proud 1 Percenter!!

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 10:32 AM PDT

Through scraping and scrapping, hustling and just plain hard work and patience (I first bought in December of 2017), I have acquired .28374 Bitcoin! It is not much I know, but I am just a regular working guy living paycheck to paycheck. To me it is HOPE. I know the price may tank and I could one day own .28374 of nothing, but there is something that feels good that I have that little stash. That maybe, just MAYBE I might have a chance at twenty grand or even more, who knows?

Good fortune and best of luck to you all!

I think hodling Bitcoin is the best investment for the next 5 years

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 04:05 PM PDT

    1. The halving is coming up

    2. Big corporations are getting in on crypto.

    3. Crypto is going main stream.

    4. BITCOIN TECH is a long time away from being considered obsolete. Lol

Honestly, wouldnt hodling be better than putting your money in the bank? I MEAN YES, Bitcoin crashes sometimes... ( and thats what we all secretly wish for, because we wanna buy more, because we know in the long term its just gonna keep going up)

    So lets buy and hodl.

    🤟🏾

Ps. My hardware wallet is arriving tomorrow!

Edit: looking forward to more experienced holders to share their insight.
