Kraken Litecoin (LTC) withdrawals now support all address formats

    Posted: 31 May 2019 10:58 AM PDT

Kraken Litecoin (LTC) withdrawals now support all address formats - Bech32 (native SegWit starting with "ltc1"), M (P2SH starting with "M"), and L (non-P2SH starting with "L"). Existing addresses aren't affected, only new addresses will need to use the new formats.

BTC LTC can i get a synopsis of the main differences?

    Posted: 31 May 2019 03:01 AM PDT

    From reading online:

    • the hashing algo in LTC uses script which is more asic resistant and allows normal folk to mine
    • block times are every 2.5 mins, compared to 10 mins for btc, so faster transactions, great. how has that worked out with stale blocks and miners wasting time mining said sale blocks? faster blocks leads to more orphaned blocks which causes the problem above. in btc, orphaned blocks usually never get mined more than twice at most, which is rare. how does that compare to LTC? eth gets around this with 17sec blocks with GHOST, but i wont go into that here, it may not be applicable to LTC given richer smart contract abilities in eth. not starting a war i.e. eth > ltc. they are apples and oranges and eth is moving to casper PoS anyway so its a moot point
    • how is the distribution of UTXO amongst wallets, many whales hold a large amount of btc, how is the UTXO decentralised vs BTC?
    • how decentralised is the mining in LTC?

What i really want to know

    • how is LTC fundametally different to BTC
      • is there a hard limit on block size like with btc?
      • in addition to the above is there a an ardent anti block size increase?
    • is blockstream involved in LTC development?

    • are there additional OPCODES in LTC that separate it apart form BTC?

    • any word of blockchain interopability e.g. oracles?

    • anything else, please let me know.

from what it seems LTC is just BTC with faster block throughput, both have segwit and both are planning on using LN.

    thanks!
