Involving mining for my crypto for the homeless site

    Posted: 03 May 2019 08:07 AM PDT

Someone in the monero subreddit suggested that I try to incorporate web mining or any mining in general for my project.

    The site is http://cryptohomeless.home.blog

I've been mainly getting donations but I think it's a cool idea to incorporate mining for those who are willing and able. What do you guys think the best way to go about this is? And would anyone be willing to donate any amount of hash for any amount of time towards this?

    PCIE risers: +12v and +3.3v?

So I have these risers. I power them via a 4 pin molex. If you look at the top left there are LEDs for +12v and +3.3v.

    • First of all, why do these risers needs both 12 and 3.3 volt rails?

    • Second of all. Just yesterday, one of my risers, the 12 volt LED didn't light up at all. Only the 3.3 volt LED light up. System was still running normal . Nothing unstable about them. Normally, both LED would light up. So does anyone know why my system was still running stable even though the 12 volt LED was not light up?

    Thanks.

How much can you earn with one GTX 1060

    Posted: 03 May 2019 06:41 AM PDT

I already have pc that is running 24/7 for different purposes that is currently running on integrated graphic and im thinking about putting gtx 1060 6gb in it and start mining. I know that amd gpus are better for it but i can get this gpu cheap. I'm really new to mining so I'm not sure if my expectations are too high but from what i found i could earn about 40-80$ per month (not counting price for electricity) by mining ETH,ZEN or RVN. Also i was wondering what are the best miners and what makes difference between them. Thanks!

Two questions on calculating PPS vs PPLNS block reward

    Posted: 03 May 2019 03:59 AM PDT

PPS: If a mining pool contributes 30% of Bitcoin's hash rate for example, and a miner contributes 10%, does that mean that the miner earns 3% of every single block reward?

PPLNS: What constitutes a recent share vs an old share, and how are these weighted when distributing rewards?

A lot of the reading material I've come across is vague when it comes to these two topics. I guess it might depend on the pool, but I can't find the answers on pool sites - if anyone could give me specific examples with set pools I'd really appreciate it a lot!
