Web3js Code Examples and Documentation Funding

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 05:32 PM PST

A few days ago I asked if people would be interested in example/tutorials around the web3.js library. It seems that this issue is more widespread than I expected.

I'm a pleb, so I can't set up a Gitcoin Grant. However, I've opened a Gitcoin bounty for this issue:

https://github.com/ethereum/web3.js/issues/2452. You can add any amount you think this project deserves.

If you wish to fund the development, you can drop a few cryptocoins here:

    https://gitcoin.co/issue/ethereum/web3.js/2452/2531.

I really, really do think that the community values tech development way too highly compared to accessibility. I'll do my best to keep the examples clear and well-documented. Any feedback during development will be highly appreciated. This is for you, so if anything isn't clear, ask. I'm a programmer, but a teacher at heart.

Any suggestions are welcome. I have an idea of what topics I should address first, but backers have the last word.

How does one create a token?

How does one create a token?

Hello everyone, I was looking at this tutorial: https://www.ethereum.org/token for creating your own tokens. When I copy/paste their code, there are various errors. I am using Ethereum Wallet, downloaded from ethereum.org.

I found the tutorials directions hard to follow. Also, when I finally got everything set up, and was at this point in Ethereum Wallet:

I hit "deploy" and nothing happened. The button clicked but nothing happened. I had copy/pasted & edited the smart contract the way they said to do. I'm confused; can someone please help me with this?

    Thank you so much!

    Question about Stablecoins

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:23 AM PST

Open question: Where are we in determining viable USD Stablecoins?

I was writing a blog post explaining the basics of "stable" cryptocurrency for our startup's blog and realized I haven't even dove into the latest on these, so I can only speak at the surface right now. My partner sent me this article a while back which questioned DAI's ability to actually scale. I ask because our application, Zabo, is aiming to pay/stream income as a digital banking app and we'll onboard one of these to the platform down the road. Tether has had its fair share of controversy, Maker's DAI is my favorite, but also relative to TrueUSD, Coinbase and Gemini's USD, etc, what is the general favorite at this point?
