Buying XRP at Binance a test run

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 05:29 AM PST

I decided to try to buy XRP at Binance as a test with a (edit: changed credit to debit) debit card. From when I started until I got my XRP it took around 20 min. The registration requires quite much info and that is what took most of the time, a second round should only take a few minutes.

The exchange rate is dependent on the size of the order and you get better exchange rate the bigger purchase you make. Even thou the maximum fee is 10 dollar they also change the spread based on order size.

I tried to buy 1000XRP and I got around 990 since the exchange rate changed during my transaction. The total markup compared to market price is around 5% for an order of this size. This is the markup I was used to when I started and used the Coinbase (ETH) to Binance exchange, but now I usually lose around 0.2% of market price going from Fiat to crypto.

So the conclusion is the service works, but the pricing is closer to Coinbase price. But if you want to buy crypto very fast due to some news and cannot wait for a Wire it might be an option. This removes my last use case for my coinbase account that was my "I have to get crypto now solution".
