Posted: 28 Feb 2019 07:20 AM PST Last year GET Protocol announced multiple Ticket Sales on Blockchain and that 50,000 people will (unknowingly) have ethereum wallets by the end of 2018. ( https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/8edesj/by_the_end_of_this_year_50000_people_will_have/ ) Today GET Protocol announced another sale of 50,000 Tickets on March 2nd: (Source: https://medium.com/@olivier_GET/update-february-19-6652f95efac5) "On March 2nd, we will have another big sale for Jochem Myjer. He recently announced an extension of his already quite unbelievable stretch of shows for his current tour 'Adem in, adem uit' (Breathe in, breathe out). This means that upcoming Saturday, another 50.000 tickets will go on sale for these newly added shows. Building on last September's successful sale, we will now get the chance to test our system again and prove that we are up to this type of scale." Short reminder on how that looks like in real life: Good-to-know: Each smart ticket requires GET tokens as fuel. Event Organizers buy tokens from the open market via a buyback (https://get-protocol.io/buyback/) A buyback is designed like a reverse dutch auction. The auction begins at 0.50€ per token and raises in a pre-defined schedule. There have already been two successful buybacks. Regarding Ticket Scalping and Ticket Fraud GET Protocol has already proven its utility: Jochem Mijer (one of the biggest dutch comedians) on his experience with GUTS Tickets and GET Protocol: "Problem solved. Seriously, problem solved. First we ran some tests using GUTS, to see if it's friendly for users, if it's efficient, if it works. And now, if you calculate it, I sold 50.000 tickets for this show, in 2 hours, which in itself is pretty bizarre for a system that can handle it… Not one! Not one ticket is up for sale for extortionate prices." ----- More Resources: Website: https://get-protocol.io/ Telegram: https://t.me/getprotocol Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GETprotocol/ For dutch speakers: One of the biggest dutch comedians on GET Protocol & GUTS Tickets: Biggest Blockchain Ticket Sale to date which was also 50k tickets. https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/9jn37t/biggest_blockchain_ticket_sale_to_date_50k/ [link] [comments]

We are 222 blocks into Constantinople, block times are still high. Posted: 28 Feb 2019 01:06 PM PST Average block time of the past 222 blocks since 7280000 is still rather high; 18.83 seconds. Similar to pre-fork. Should be ~14s Was the ice age not melted? :) Or 222 is not a big enough sample? I guess wait and see. Edit 1: Last 300 blocks [root@monitoring ~]# curl -s https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100&start=0&length=100 https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100&start=100&length=100 https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100&start=200&length=100 | jq .data[].blocktime -r | sed "s/s//g" | awk '{ total += $1; count++ } END { print total/count }' 18.3234 Edit 2: Last 400 blocks [root@monitoring ~]# curl -s https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100\&start=0\&length=100 https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100\&start=100\&length=100 https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100\&start=200\&length=100 https://www.etherchain.org/blocks/data?draw=100\&start=300\&length=100 | jq .data[].blocktime -r | sed "s/s//g" | awk '{ total += $1; count++ } END { print total/count }' 18.0941 [link] [comments]

Heads up - Trezor Firmware 1.8.0 doesn't work on MyCrypto or MEW yet Posted: 28 Feb 2019 07:20 AM PST EDIT: MyCrypto ha fixed this now and pushed new versions live. MEW has merged the changes, but I don't think it's pushed live yet. Heads up - Trezor Firmware 1.8.0 introduces breaking changes that doesn't work on MyCrypto or MEW yet. We've received PRs from their team to help with updating to fix this which you can follow here for MyCrypto or here for MyEtherWallet In the mean time, if you update your firmware to 1.8.0, be aware that MyCrypto/MEW will be broken in the short term (hopefully < 1 day). Successful fork! Can we expect higher gas limits soon? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 01:01 PM PST First of all, congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the now successful fork. I recall this being answered a few times vaguely by Vitalik and some others, but is there a set plan to slowly increase gas limit from 8m to 10m and then to 12m since we are at historic lows on # of uncle blocks and have had a successful fork? Blockchain needs AOL-like tactics to reduce barriers to entry Posted: 28 Feb 2019 10:58 AM PST To truly gain the trust of an Early Majority individual with something as unusual as Ethereum, users need to see, interact, and play with it to truly understand its potential. It's exactly the tactic that AOL use in the early aughts to reach mainstream adoption. Coogan Brennan of ConsenSys Academy draws a parallel between AOL's adoption and the blockchain projects today.
