So Samsung integrates Crypto into the new S10 phone today with support ONLY for Ethereum. Nobody's talking about it and price hasn't moved?

Im shocked this article isn't at the top of the front page. Every alt coiner on earth was praying to be supported on this integration with the new Samsung S10 phone. Not only is Bitcoin NOT supported on it, nor any other altcoin, but ETH is the only coin supported. Why isn't this being shouted from a hilltop on this sub? :) This has to be the most irrational market I've ever seen. Meanwhile Tron and LTC pumpin just fine ....

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 01:47 PM PST

Zether (by @benediktbuenz, Dan Bohen et al.) is the first privacy mechanism built specifically for Ethereum, i.e. account-based smart contract platforms.

Hides both sender/recipient and the amount.

No changes to Ethereum required. Practical today.

Do you still think we are the community Vitalik described here?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:30 AM PST

Suppose you are dropped on an alien planet, and see two rival political factions. You observe faction A issuing veiled death threats, and faction B reaching out to mainstream society, while dancing and celebrating alpacas and unicorns. Which faction do you join? https://twitter.com/vitalikbuterin/status/994720120713990144?lang=en

Nobody is claiming Ethereum didn't hit roadblocks in every facet during the last two years, but that doesn't discount the fact that hard working people are still trying to push this project to places that challenge the status quo and go where other projects aren't. Consider this a call to all keyboard warriors, especially those who are angry cause the price dumped, to understand that for Ethereum to succeed (and for price to go up again), in addition to having a successful research turned into a working product, we also need evangelism.

Use not your typing behind a screen skills to shame and name call and push people to their breaking point, but use it to spread the word and reinvigorate what got you excited about Ethereum in the first place. If you need a reminder, head over to https://ethresear.ch and realize people are trying their very best.

Everybody has a role to play in this community if we are to be a beacon chain for all other chains. Not only developers.

First non-custodial trading on Ethereum with Nuo ; Vitalik's lengthy Twitter discussion

First non-custodial trading on Ethereum with Nuo ; Vitalik's lengthy Twitter discussion

Nuo, a project that started out as part of the Tachyon Accelerator, has announced their peer-to-peer platform for non-custodial margin trading with up to 5x leverage. Non-custodial means that every time users place a margin trade, Nuo debt reserves provide leverage and Uniswap or Kyber fulfill the trade order.

With the first platform to do this, Vitalik had some great questions he asked to make sure the project was headed in the right direction:

The EIP to recover funds in frozen Polka Dot and Parity wallets should be removed because the author has abandoned Ethereum.

Except for my graphics cards, I have my whole mining rig still. Is there anything I can do with it to help take part in the ethereum ecosystem?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 05:37 PM PST

Don't really feel interested in mining. Was wondering if there was another project on ethereum I could put it to good use to.
