    XRP Security Discussion

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 11:28 AM PST

I've been in the concurrency scene for over a year now. I'm not a computer scientist by any means. I'd say my knowledge of blockchain technology is above average considering I don't come from a technical background. One thing that seems to always irk me is I can't seem to understand why XRP is the only digital asset that gets the attention of "is this a security/it is a security?" It seems that other projects out there don't get the same attention as XRP in terms of whether or not it's a security. I'm aware that the SEC recently stated that BTC and ETH aren't securities.

I'm really hoping this all gets resolved soon. I'm sure the Ripple team has lawyers handling this, but it really would be detrimental news if XRP is a security. I really don't think this will be the case. Until the SEC decision for XRP comes out, its frustrating seeing Coinbase be anti XRP and not against any other cryptocurrency.

Upcoming concern for XRP and crypto in general

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 05:08 AM PST

I've been very hesitant to load up on XRP recently. Normally, given that crypto has taken a massive hit, it would seem like a good time to buy. The only thing holding me back is the equities market. We've been in an unprecedented Bull market for the last 9 years or so. It is my opinion that we will see a rather large recession within the next two years.

Where crypto is today, at this point, I simply don't see people running to crypto to hedge against an impending economic recession... YET. Call me crazy, but I see crypto pulling back even further. I think BTC could hit lower than 2k. XRP even 10c.

This is just completely my opinion and I'm just a bit worried about it. I am a supporter, holder, and buyer of XRP.

Any constructive thoughts? Maybe this post doesn't belong here, sorry.

xCurrent is not using a Distributed Ledger Technology isn't it?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 12:21 PM PST

    Hello.

I just need some clarification on this one, because I'm a lil bit confused. I'd appreciate any usefull answers.

Basically my assumption is that xCurrent is not a Distributed Ledger Technology because it is using the Inter Ledger Protocoll (ILP).

Is this assumption right or not? If it is not, please tell me why.

The reason I am confused is that all the banks using xCurrent are claiming they using blockchain, even though xCurrent is using the ILP and not a DLT. If I am wrong here please tell me where the DLT comes into play in xCurrent.

    Thank you and best wishes

    Luke

    2018 in a nutshell

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 08:19 AM PST

Brad was right when he said 2018 would be the year of the institutional investor. I just dont think I imagined they would tank the whole market before they buy in, but it makes perfect sense. All these large financial firms wouldn't possibly buy at the ATH, so they crashed the whole market to set themselves up for when they all go live in 2019.

How to explore Coil payments on XRPtipbot?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 01:11 PM PST

The XRPtipbot Payment Pointer is normally used for receiving Coil XRP payments, but the Json entries in the downloadable file from XRPTIPBOT showing your ILP/Coil payments doesn't really have a lot of info in them. There is ID, date, amount, userid and a few other things. But there is no info on the sender of the Coil and no info on whether the payment originate from YouTube, Twitch or other content.

Have anyone had any luck using some kind of public explorer to trace a Coil stream payment in order to find origin/sender of the Coil stream?

    Future XRP price calculation, Help?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2018 12:04 AM PST

I came across a post, and tried to do it myself.

following are premise that i could think and used, Although I am open to suggestion.

Premise Condition 1 ---- World wide volume of transferred money=$2 Quad annually

    source-https://economics.stackexchange.com/questions/9165/how-much-money-is-wire-transferred-every-year-worldwide/9184

Premise Condition 2 ---- Auto-bridging through XRP in Ripplenet takes 5 seconds (for simplicity let's assume that, although actual transfer takes longer than that depending on liquidity)

Premise Condition 3 --- Total XRP volume for market circulating is "50 billion XRP"., assuming ripple doesn't sell massively.

Premise Condition 4---- Not all xrp is in circulation, hodlers like you and me, exchanges, companies, banks, payments providers will sock large amounts which will be locked up permanently with them or others at all times.

    Revised circulation-10 million xrp.

Premise Condition 5---- forgetting coil, r3 and dapps which are also going to use xrp at some point in coming years.

Premise Condition 6--- speculation and market forces included in premise 4.

    Now (2 quad/365/24/60/60x5)/10 million = 31.7$/xrp

This is value I came up with, let me know if I can/need change it somehow.

    Thanks.
