    Posted: 21 Dec 2018 08:05 PM PST

Thread topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Discussion related to recent events
    • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
    • General questions about altcoins

    Thread guidelines:

    • Be excellent to each other.
    • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
    • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

Sorry if this has been asked before. But how do you think crypto market will react when the next recession/depression hits.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2018 02:21 PM PST

It will be the first true recesssion/depression for bitcoin and the rest of crypto since it was born out of the last 2008 recession. Do you think it will drop along with the market because people will be pulling their money out to hold as cash? Or do you think it will surge because people will jump from stocks to crypto?

    What do you think?

    Bitmex account value?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2018 05:08 PM PST

Can someone tell me if my account losses USD value because its based off of BTC?

If I fund my account with $1000 worth of BTC today. Will I still have $1000 worth of BTC tomorrow if I don't trade? This whole BTC based account thing has my brain hurting, because I assume the value of the BTC will fluctuate and I will have more or less value in my account if I decide not to trade for a few days.

Or will the account always maintain a USD cash equivalent?

    https://www.coindesk.com/launch-of-bakkt-bitcoin-futures-market-may-get-postponed-again

We'd be lucky if bakkt goes live in January 2020. They want that 1k Bitcoin. I really hope Mr.Market doesn't give a shit about it. We can do without Bakkt in fact I don't even like it. They are playing games this was very well panned expect a sell off before January 24th. Bakkt is a Meme. I bet it's a lie. I mean look at their website. They just want the price to get even lower so that OGs and veterans get nervous.

I bet my post is against some bullshit rule but hey we don't like censorship.

Is it time to take my bitcoin and emigrate?

    Today in Bloomberg Opinion:

Eli Lake argues that Trump's presidency is collapsing. The world counted on Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis to hold firm against Trump's more extreme tendencies. His abrupt resignation is provoking fears that there are no adults left in the room.

President Donald Trump has handicapped the odds of him shutting down the government as "pretty good" unless he gets money for his wall.

The proportion of stocks hitting annual lows rivals 1987 and 2008.

Trump was dealt a blow on a signature issue when the U.S. Supreme Court blocked him from automatically rejecting asylum bids by people who cross the Mexican border illegally.

In other high court news, Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had two cancerous growths removed.

Trump was supposed to tell his Turkish counterpart to stop testing his patience with military threats in Syria, but didn't. #bitcoin #investments
