Words of a true gentleman. After Charlie was warning people of a crash most people dismissed it, saying "this time is different". Now a year later we all know how it unfolded.

The profits you made by taking calculated investment risks with your hard earned money could be seized by your exchange, only to cover for someone else’s stupidity and over-leveraged trades gone wrong. Sounds insane right? Well… Surprise, it has already happened, and it's called Socialized Losses

If crypto were a school subject, one of the first lessons would be 'how to store your funds in a secured way.' Yet, many of us are not securing our capitals because of laziness.

Is Technically Possible for BTC to Adopt DAG?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 10:42 PM PST

I know I might get downvoted like crazy, but the question remains.

The BTC developers themselves admit there is a scalability problem, this is why they develop lightning.

This is just a pure technical question.

Given that miners are quitting because of low price, (it is business, not a matter of belief or faith as "holders")

For now it appears that there are other open source technologies like that of XRP and IOTA that solves the problems of scalability.

Is it possible to somehow upgrade the network to use any of these technologies and keep it BTC as a currency, Not suggesting a fork of course. I don't like forks.

This way we will be back to what Satoshi wanted, a digital uncontrollable currency.

No need for mining more, let's just stop at the moment it is decided to send and receive BTC on a DAG.

This way we'll be back to one machine one vote, distributed as number of users is already big enough, hence secure and scalable.

Ok, downvote if you want, I don't mind.

But I think it's more valuable to discus and brainstorm, maybe something gets us out of this mess once and for good.

    Thanks

I made those Crypto Playing Cards to help general adoption, thought it might make cool Christmas gifts. I am not making profits on those, so I thought it was okay to share here!

Have a crypto mining machine laying around underutilized? Use it for SCIENCE!

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this is against the rules, but I figured that it would be worth a shot.

BOINC is a platform for high-throughput computing on a massive scale. It allows you to join countless others in donating your CPU/GPU clock cycles to help cutting-edge science research using your existing hardware. There's tons of cool projects that you're able to join and be a part of that all help the scientific community in one way or another. Here's some of my favorite projects:

SETI@Home is an initiative by the University of California at Berkeley that aims to use publicly volunteered CPU/GPU clock cycles to help discover extraterrestrial life in our universe. Using the BOINC manager, you're able to help analyze radio telescope data on a massive scale and bring us one step closer to finding possible signals originating from other parts of the universe!

Asteroids@Home is a project that aims to derive shapes and spin for a significant population of the asteroid population!

LHC@Home is a project that runs simulations on how to better improve the current Large Heron Collider and provide us with better understanding of particles and their properties!

These are just a few of the projects available via the BOINC manager, and there's so many more than focus not only on space but on deep sea exploration, improvements to healthcare and even nanotechnology! Check it out, try it out and maybe even use a part of your machine to help the world!

I couldn't help myself. Every time prices have gone up I wish i had bought more when it was lower. But if my past history is any indicator, now that I've bought more prices will invariably go down. So...sorry about that. Maybe I am the problem?

I guess because people are probably too depressed by all the red lately. Me, I just keep picking up a bit more with every paycheque, and enjoying the deep discounts I'm getting now. I started buying back in in March of this year after cashing out 11BTC for just over $10k total near the end of 2013 to pay for medical expenses. I'm actually hoping the price keeps dropping so I can get the full 11BTC back eventually. Curious to see what other r/cc'ers are still hodling in this bear market, and what people's thoughts are on my holdings.

    Here's what I've got atm:

    BTC 15%
    ONT 15%
    NANO 12%
    IOTA 12%
    ETH 10%
    XLM 10%
    ADA 10%
    BNB 2%
    BAT 2%
    MANA 2%
    ENJI 2%
    ZEC 2%
    XMR 2%
    DASH 2%
    WTC 1%
    VET 1%
