    Bitcoin Unlimited FTW!!

Bitcoin Unlimited has understood these bottlenecks and worked around them already, and the latest release of BU running on high-end hardware can now admit thousands of transactions per second into mempool.

This is possible because we made changes to the code, and we will continue to make changes to the code because these are necessary to scale Bitcoin to a global p2p ecash system. If you think that you can grow Bitcoin without continued changes to the codebase, then you are clueless about how tech. development works.

With Gemini adding BCH, here is my updated spreadsheet of cryptocurrencies, ranked by retail ecosystem support (major fiat gateways, payment processors, multi-currency wallets). BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC remain in the top 4. Zcash has been rising.

See you on the other side

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 01:43 PM PST

With the entire cryptosphere acting like sheep, trolls out in full force and BCH being attacked from so many vectors it's nice to see that there are still a lot of people who's faith in BCH can't be shaken. I consider you all my brothers in arms. We're making history and promoting true economic and financial sovereignty but I feel there's a lot of grinding and hurting to go through yet.

Buckle down boys and I'll see you all on the other side.

After being sore losers, Calvin & Craig are now trying to manipulate the cryptocurrency community with threats and lawsuits. Guys, you probably picked the worst target in the world for that. There won't be enough popcorn available to watch this go down

I think that's what csw don't get (or pretends not to). There are hundreds of nations and many have their own particularities. What is ok with one SEC may not be ok with the other SEC, even States within a country can have different regulations.

It is really not related, primarily, to being anarchist or anti-state. It is a simple fact that it is impossible to have a scientific endeavor that depends on permission of all major nations in the world. This is impractical and lunatic.

Furthermore, the loss of agnosticism creates a resistance between competing nations. This is detrimental to world-wide adoption.

So, make the most of the technology and governments will adapt and learn. If the technology is really good, it will be adopted.

What csw/calvin propose is to deliver a species of permissioned bitTorrent client that burns electricity equivalent to several whole cities. Can't see how that will work.

Some physical pick up stations in major crypto cities would make a difference! Let's say you outsource this to someone, they get 50% of the savings.

A Note of Appreciation for the Anarcho-Capitalists

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 02:51 PM PST

As we deal with people trying to involve the U.S. government in open-source projects and tolerate a schizophrenic narcissistic Australian, I want to say how appreciative I am of people like Roger who built and invested and embraced the values behind Bitcoin, instead of suing and scamming (anyone hawking an ICO) in an apolitical desire to get rich quick. I hope that the statists who infected the great Bitcoin project will be washed out with this crash.

Decentralized, privatized, 10-year old money has the potential to change the world for the better. Ethereum, Ripple, and other ponzis don't.

    Bitcoin "hidden" buy fees question

    Posted: 09 Dec 2018 01:51 AM PST

Probably a noob question but I'd appreciate any response.

So as of now 1BTC is around $4561CAD. However, on exchanges, Quadriga for example, if you want to buy 1BTC it will cost you $4975, so that's around 9% more.

Is this normal and like this for every exchange? Is 9% standard or are there better exchanges with a lower %?

Bitcoin Unlimited - Bitcoin Cash edition 1.5.1.0 Release candidate 2 has just been released

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 06:54 AM PST

Download the latest Bitcoin Cash compatible release candidate of Bitcoin Unlimited (1.5.1.0-rc2, December 8th, 2018) from:

    https://www.bitcoinunlimited.info/download

This is a main release candidate of Bitcoin Unlimited compatible with the Bitcoin Cash specifications you could find here:

This release candidate is compatible with both Bitcoin Cash and SV changes to the consensus rules. SV features set is disabled by default, the default policy is to activate the set of changes as defined by the bitcoincash.org.

Although this software has passed normal QA tests, it is currently undergoing longevity testing to validate stability. If you are looking for the most stable software, use the last Official Release (i.e. 1.5.0.2).

List of fixes since BU 1.5.1.0rc1:

    • Making Xversion more permissive in the initial handshake
    • Set Excessive Block Size (EB) properly while in SV mode
    • Ensure that blk files storage operate on an append-only basis
    • Various minor fixes/improvements to the python QA framework
    • Reduce the last of thinblock/preferential timer to 1 sec from 10 sec.
    • Fixed connection drop bug where a ping that happened soon after initial connection would be ignored, causing an eventual ping timeout.

List of notable changes to the code base since BU 1.5.0:

    • 10x transaction processing performance
    • Extended version message: xversion
    • adding a checkpoint at height 556767 both for the SV and the BCH chain

    Release notes: https://github.com/BitcoinUnlimited/BitcoinUnlimited/blob/dev/doc/release-notes/release-notes-bucash1.5.1.0-rc2.md

Since this is a release candidate and not an official release the Ubuntu PPA repository is not going to be updated.

I think Satoshi made a big mistake by not saying "don't trust anyone that claims to be me" prior to his disappearing because he just completly underestimated people's stupidity.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2018 10:51 AM PST

To me it's obvious that Satoshi's disappering was well planned from the beginning.

The reason for his dissappearing was the fact that a known founder of Bitcoin would be a trusted Person which would be undesireable in a system that's supposed to works trustless.

Some Satohi quotes from http://p2pfoundation.ning.com/forum/topics/bitcoin-open-source :

"I've developed a new open source P2P e-cash system called Bitcoin. It's completely decentralized, with no central server or trusted parties, because everything is based on crypto proof instead of trust."

"The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work."

If Satoshi did it right then he also destroyed all private keys and any evidence that would allow him to prove his identity.

SATOSHI REAPPEARING IS NOT IN LINE WITH THE WHITEPAPER!!!!
