How Secure are our Exchange Accounts even with 2FA-Verification enabled? Posted: 11 Dec 2018 07:55 PM PST After the recent Reddit security breach that ended in tens of thousands of account emails, passwords, and log-in details being leaked literally only 4 months ago (Yes, Reddit was hacked, I'm still not over this. If you haven't heard about this already, please kindly do a Google search), I've become far more skeptical of traditional security systems and online encryption methods that most people would deem as relatively safe to use, and simply not worry about their account information and privacy details being easily leaked and accessed at any given point in-time. Moving onto the next widely promulgated security feature that is commonly known and accepted as being secure, Two-Factor Authentication. A lot of websites/exchanges are using 2FA as means of protecting account privacy, but I recently discovered that hackers can contact your mobile phone provider, impersonate you, and then intercept and call-forward your account verification messages to their own phone numbers, log into your accounts that use this verification process (it happens more often that you think), and access your details. This is insane to think about. The only real, digital solution I've seen so far has been the Google Authenticator and its similar spin-offs. And yes, the solutions NEED to be digital, because if they're not, then it just makes it even more difficult for the masses to enjoy absolute account security/privacy on exchanges. An interesting article I came across mentioned the solution for another 2FA Verification method on what appears to be a blockchain-based system, although I am highly skeptical of the surrounding scam tendencies with these projects https://link.medium.com/l8zc0n2AwS, I do still believe that a cryptographically-sealed solution provided by some real-world experts in the near future could indeed solve this kind of problem permanently, or maybe even perhaps a complete work around to the entire system will be necessary. Such as truly decentralized exchanges. The fact remains, that on a large share of website and exchanges, 2FA SMS Verification is the only available option, and this is worrying. What will be the real solution to these security breaches for not only 2 Factor Authentication, but also complete account security for all of these traditional websites such as Reddit, Google, Facebook, etc? Back to my original question, how secure REALLY are our exchange Accounts even with 2FA-Verification enabled? [link] [comments] | ||

How to expand my trading knowledge? Posted: 11 Dec 2018 06:07 AM PST Hey guys. I hope this is not a question that comes up often but I really do need some guidance from here. About two months ago I got into crypto trading and started out with a simple phone app called The trading game that was recommended to me by a close friend. The app is awesome btw. It teaches you the fundamentals in a very fun and interactive way while allowing you to trade with virtual money and test your knowledge daily. I think I reached a point where I should be looking for something else though. I did some reading recently and found out about trading patterns on the stock market so I guess that also applies to crypto trading as well. Since the app I was using did a great job getting me started with trading I think I should move on to the more technical stuff and get into some hard reading and learning. What I need is a recommendation. It can be a book, video or a website... Whatever you think will help me expand my trading knowledge and help me get started with the technical aspect of trading. If there is an app for it then great but I can also afford to spend a few days on reading since I have some free time on my hands right now. Looking forward to your suggestions!
