Did the value of XRP really go up 500% this year relative to BTC? Posted: 29 Nov 2018 05:17 PM PST Hi all, I was discussing XRP with a friend on Facebook and I wanted to double check some assumptions to see if they were correct. I know these numbers aren't exact, I was looking more to find out if the thought process behind them was right. If the price of XRP averaged around $.50 at the beginning of the year while BTC was over $20,000 it would take 40,000 XRP to buy 1 BTC (right?) If the price of XRP averages around $.50 recently and the price of BTC has dropped to $4,000 it would take 8,000 XRP to buy 1 BTC. Does this logic mean that ripple coins bought at the beginning of the year really increased in value relative to BTC? Or would the value really just be the same? I guess what I'm having trouble with is that if someone took say 40,000 XRP at the beginning of the year and converted to USD they'd get $20,000. If they took their 40,000 XRP today and converted to USD they'd get $20,000...but a person holding 40,000 XRP at the beginning of the year can invest a get a lot more BTC now? [link] [comments] |
