- Parity Ethereum v2.2.2 (No Nick) out! It improves sync performance, peering stability, block propagation, and transaction propagation times. Wow, how long can this title be? Also, a warp-sync no longer removes existing blocks from the database, but rather reuses locally available information.

Official release of Ethertify: Blockchain certification era starts today! Posted: 29 Nov 2018 03:58 AM PST We are happy to announce the public release of Ethertify, a decentralized certification platform on the Ethereum MainNet. The current release is completely functional for intellectual property rights and document signing. Comments and ideas are more than welcome! [link] [comments]

What do ERCs do? Looking at ERC 20, ERC 721, and More! Posted: 29 Nov 2018 07:31 PM PST ERC-20: Just a Coin?On the Ethereum network, it is possible to exchange the cryptocurrency Ether freely. Ether is a cryptocurrency or coin that can be considered a token that may be used to make all kinds of transactions. Within the Ethereum network, there are other tokens that can be used based on the value of exchange between them and Ether. To implement another token on the Ethereum blockchain you have to set the code or technical standard in the Smart Contracts called ERC-20. The acronym "ERC" stands for "Ethereum Request for Comment" while "20" is the number of the request. In short, ERC-20 simply allows for a token to behave just like cryptocurrency on the market. A simple example of a token using the ERC-20 can be seen in a popular dapp called Decentraland. In Decentraland, users can visit Genesis city, a virtual world where users can use the in-platform currency MANA to buy plots of land, pay for experiences, or trade NFTs (more about them later). ERC-20 essentially allows developers of dapps to apply their new token while giving them a monetary value. However, ERC-20 tokens need to respect clear guidelines for how the token can behave on the Ethereum network. Since most tokens adhere to the ERC-20 rules, dapp users can store these tokens in most wallets. The system is, however, not perfect, for an attempt to send a token via the token's Smart Contract would result in a loss of the token. When a token is sent to another user's wallet, a request from the receiving wallet will be sent asking for the token's contract so that it can update the ledger. If you send a token via a token's Smart Contract the reply will turn out as null while the token you actually sent will just vanish into virtual thin air. Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:39 AM PST So from my understanding, the difficulty bomb or "ice age" was introduced during Frontier to make sure that miners would eventually switch over to Proof of Stake and that it makes the block times incrementally longer. Now I know that it has been delayed because the developers need more time to develop Serenity (which is fine), but where are we currently at in the time frame for when we will start seeing its effects? Another thing I've seen people get wrong is that the difficulty bomb will somehow make the Constantinople issuance reduction irrelevant. The reduction is set to go from 3 to 2 at 15 second block times. That is 4 every 30 seconds currently. With the difficulty bomb and block times at 30 seconds, it would be 2 every 30 seconds because it would be only 1 block in that 30 second time frame instead of 2. This seems like a multiplier in issuance reduction instead of one making the other redundant. Correct me if I'm wrong with that please. I've also seen that the difficulty bomb will incrementally affect difficulty every 2-3 months, is that correct and if so what is the time frame on that currently? [link] [comments]
ENS Bidding Script for Address 0xa7d65cd81f3631b9823a511a7f4bdddf081945f7 Posted: 29 Nov 2018 06:22 PM PST Hey, it's apparent to me that someone is buying up a lot of ENS domains using the address 0xa7d65cd81f3631b9823a511a7f4bdddf081945f7 (https://etherscan.io/ens?filter=hashregistered), likely via some kind of automated script I'm assuming based on the frequency of purchases. They outbid me on a domain that I want, and I would be happy to purchase it for a reasonable price, so my question is this: Are there places other than ENSListing and NameBazaar to do this? It looks like they briefly explored NameBazaar (https://namebazaar.io/user/0xa7d65cd81f3631b9823a511a7f4bdddf081945f7/offerings), but the one I'm looking for isn't listed. If the person who owns that address reads this, please message me. I know of no other way to contact you. Thanks. [link] [comments]

What are the different Ethereum Nodes? Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:17 AM PST New to ETH and thought I'd do some of my own research with the prices being so low right now. What is the minimum node? (how many eth). Do you generate eth with node? How to set up node? I've tried looking it up but couldn't really find any helpful info - is there a specific thread on this? sorry if this has been asked over and over. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
