Today I accidentally payed with PayPal Posted: 23 Nov 2018 12:49 PM PST I was hungry and wanted to improve the world, i.e. support Crypto. One online food delivery company in my country accepts bitcoin, so I picked this one. Just to clarify, I have been using Bitcoin for several years now (from time to time). I had to pay with BitPay, but I had my Bitcoin stored in a Blockchain wallet. Over like half an hour I tried to pay with Bitcoin and didn't succeed (use app, scan the qr, log into web, type several passwords, try to manually copy address, buy new bitcoin with cc - bank declines with unknown error, and so on). Meanwhile my girlfriend on the phone was constantly mocking me that she just ordered shushi and payed in like 10 seconds. So I really wanted to pull this off. Finally, I decided to transfer my Bitcoin from my Blockchain wallet to a BitPay wallet and had to wait, although I took a high fee (apparently it really isn't possible to pay with BitPay if you have a Blockchain wallet). Now, in a final attempt that couldn't possibly go wrong, I had to renew the payment form since it is only valid for like 15 min. I did this before and each time I had to pick bitcoin out of several different payment options. This time I accidentally hit the wrong button, the PayPal Button. Since I must have stored my PayPal account data years ago on this delivery-account the payment was accepted instantly. Order complete! My face went pale... luckily my girlfriend couldn't see it. Maybe I didn't had my brightest moments today and for sure I am still a big supporter of the idea behind crypto. But today I also realized that crypto has to get much more accessible in order to reach mass adaptation. TL;DR:I tried really hard to pay with bitcoin, but since I accidentally hit the wrong button and my PayPal account was already stored, I ended up paying with PayPal. [link] [comments] |
