[Discussion] Seeing people tipping XRP made me think about the idea of 'virtual goods and services' Posted: 30 Oct 2018 05:41 AM PDT For starter, I think tipping is great to raise awareness :D This made me think a little bit though - tipping is a start, and XRP already has 'transfer of value' as utility. It made me wonder if it would work as a currency as well in the future as in something that represents 'purchasing power'. I was pondering about this idea of 'virtual goods and services' that solely exist on top of XRP without dollar value attached to them, but just the XRP value. I wonder if there's any type of product/service (most likely digital-related) which is suitable to such idealistic model? Something like Bitcoin Superstore still has dollar-value attached to the products, so we basically still think in terms of the dollars. In this case, I think the purchasing power doesn't actually lie in XRP (or cryptocurrency in general), but in the dollar instead. It would be nice if people start providing some things only accepting XRP coins regardless of the value of XRP in dollars (products exclusive to XRP) - this way we're actually creating another form of demand for the currency. Is this even feasible? Would people still tip 1 XRP if it's worth say 5,000 USD? I'm not very knowledgeable about economy but, if there are no products and services, there is no purchasing power. What do you think? and please correct my line of thoughts and assumptions - I just want to share my thoughts and I don't know much about currencies and hoping to learn along the way. Just food for thought [link] [comments] | ||

Hello all! Question about XRPtipbot again :) Posted: 29 Oct 2018 11:28 PM PDT I wanted to ask if anyone has used the tipbot for "community chat" rooms on reddit? I know that we can leave replies to comments we love on threads but can we actually give tips to someone on live chats in the communities? I've scoured reddit for this and found nothing thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
